Descar Jewelry is a very nice and polished jewelry and repair shop. I went in to have a relatively older watch repaired and I recognized my small-time repair wasn't much and yet it served to perhaps build a relationship with the business. The young lady I worked with was friendly - in truth everyone there was friendly, they welcomed me when I came in and everything - even the other worker who had other customers spoke a word of greeting. I gave them a little information about myself, told them that I would be started grad school in a few weeks and would like to have the watch my aunt gave me as a Christmas present fixed and a new battery added. I was given a time and day to pick up. I came in a day after the date on the receipt about a week later and the watch was not done, this did not bother me and I understood, I came back a few days later and the watch was still not ready for pick up - this was still just fine - I waited through the weekend and came in on a Tuesday - to my surprise the watch was still not ready, the young lady made a call and I realized that the person on the other end was responsible for repairs. There was an issue getting the right clasp for the watch I gave them, understandable. At this point it would now be two weeks later, and family encouraged me to be friendly but request the watch be returned if it was not repaired by the 4th time around on the day I was asked to come back in even though a call was to be made. Well, I came in on Thursday and what could have been a real disappointment was remedied very graciously by the Descar associates. The watch was repaired, set, and even at my decline they insisted that there would be no charge. They thanked me for my patience, apologized for miscommunication and we laughed over the late afternoon time which was set on my newly fixed watch. In the car ride home I spoke to a family member and I regarded Descar as providing some of the sweetest and gracious customer service I had ever experienced especially being new to the neighborhood. The Descar employees, although the repair only cost $20 treated me with the respect and the dignity they showed to every single customer that walked into that store through their actions. They weren't just another business with friendly mottos - they did what they say they do - they care about what they offer and who they offer it too. That's just plain old-fashion GOOD BUSINESS. Before I left I told them I would see them next time which was solid recognition that they had my standing business - there's a necklace I am looking to purchase. They respected their reputation and the integrity of the customers they serve. I highly recommend this business. May...
Read moreItâs family owned so Iâm assuming the two women are sisters. When I dropped off my jewelry to get fixed, I dealt with the nice one. Super friendly and personable. We talked about my young daughter starting 3rd grade at the same elementary school her kids went to. Great experience. However, when I picked up my jewelry the following week I was âhelpedâ by the not so nice sister. Very condescending and rude. She made it a point to continuously imply that my 14k gold jewelry was poor quality. She probably said 3-4 times that my rope chain was hollow and to be careful with it, not to hang a charm from it because it would break. The necklace isnât so thin that I couldnât hang a dainty charm from it. I felt like she was again trying to make me feel as though the jewelry was poor quality and exaggerating to make her point. She made assumptions about how I wear my jewelry that I took as a cultural dig. She assumed my necklace broke because I was wearing too many at a time. You know, typical Black woman who wears gold hoops and too many gold necklaces, like a rapper or Mr. T or any stereotype in any movie. Iâm always taken aback when people treat me poorly so I tried to make conversation. I told her I bought a lot of gold on Etsy. âWe repair a lot of gold from Etsy, itâs cheaper there.â She gave some good advice, like taking jewelry off when sleeping but everything had an air of condescension. I waited months to go in there because this is what I feared. Small family businesses can always be hit or miss and sadly this was a miss. Sucks because they are right down the street from my house. Alas the search continues. I would go back if it were guaranteed I didnât have to deal with her again. Oh and when I picked up my jewelry it had tons of lint all over it, for the cost of having it fixed a complimentary cleaning would...
Read moreHello, I have just been introduced to this store and they are the best.
I bought my daughter a bracelet here and the clasp broke and they gave her a brand new bracelet at no charge.
Also, I was getting married and bought my wife a ring from an online jeweler that was supposed to be white gold with a sapphire and the sapphire turned out to be just glass and the white gold turned out to be some kind of metal that rusted.
With the wedding just around the corner my soon to be wife was so so sad. I went to Descar with a low budget and limited time and Justin was able to build a custom ring that nobody has on an animated virtual program so we could see how it was going to look as if it was real.
He also managed to work the math so that it fit my budget. Once he was done building the ring, my soon to be bride's face lit up like I've never seen before.
The ring came in on time as promised and is her pride and joy.
The ladies in the shop took my step daughter out to Dunkin Donuts and bought her a latte and donut so that she didn't have to sit and wait while the ring was being virtually built.
I was so happy that I offered to give Justin a cash tip as a thank you, and he turned it down stating that his tip was seeing my bride happy.
Since then we bought matching necklaces with a medallion which they inscribed for us with our names and wedding date.
I love this store and the people are incredible. ...
