Crary Art Gallery — Attraction in Warren

Wouldn't know... They are supposed to be open from 12-6 on Saturdays, took my kids and meet my wife there for a surprise cause we've never been. My family met other disappointed patrons outside, all wondering why they were closed at 3:30. I called their number and was told there will be an exhibition and they are open 5-7. Well I can't sit around and wait for an hour and a half with 2 kids, 7 & 10 for what promises to be an underwhelmingly typical Warren experience. I understand admission is free and I'll bet the staff are volunteers, but it costs zero money and little effort to share your hours with the internet.

Update: 3 months have passed and I brought my kids again today at 2 PM... Shocker, closed. No lights on, no nothing.

About time to sell this place and get it back on...

The current exhibit on our National Parks, with multiple local artists, is a winner. Many different interpretations, and many parks represented. The opening was jam packed, which I take as an indication of how deeply affected people are by threats to the park system coming from the federal government - the staffing and budget cuts, and even the spectre of selling off our precious lands. the gallery resides in a very architecturally cool house, with an interesting history. it has permanent exhibits with original works by Crary, Rembrandt, and original etching block used by Doré for his bible illustrations. ...and it's free to the public operated by friendly, dedicated volunteers. this...
