It is a nice set of collections in National Arboretum but I would rate them lower than Conifers or Magnolias collections… As another reviewer pointed out there are not enough Asian trees or plants to call this area as Chinese or Japanese collection. Many trees are regular North East variety. That said, it is still very nice place to visit. Restroom is located right across the...

The U.S. National Arboretum was established in 1927 by an Act of Congress, which is administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Research Service. The Arboretum has 446 acres with 9.5 miles of winding roadways. The Asian Collections is one of its major gardens. If you love plants, this is a must-see in the...

Multiple paths that mostly interconnect. Beautiful, you almost forget you're still in the city! If you follow the China Valley path all the way down, you end up at the Anacostia River - there are some benches and picnic tables that would be perfect for a picnic...it is a bit of a steep path.

I am very interested in Japanese gardening so I found seeing the plants in their full glory, and what naturally goes well together, was fascinating. Probably even more beautiful in the fall and spring. The bonsai museum was my favorite though.
