As a fast-casual Chinese food option, the Panda Express on Market St NE in D.C. gets the job done, but doesn't necessarily stand out among the many other similar restaurants in the area.
The menu offers the standard array of Panda Express staples - things like orange chicken, Beijing beef, chow mein, and fried rice. The food is prepared quickly and efficiently, making it a convenient option for a quick lunch or dinner. The flavors are decent, though not necessarily the most authentic or nuanced Chinese cuisine.
What the Panda Express location has going for it is the convenient location, right off of the NoMa-Gallaudet U metro station. This makes it an easy stop for commuters or those passing through the neighborhood. The dining area is also fairly spacious and clean, providing a comfortable place to sit and eat.
However, the Panda Express experience here is fairly generic and uninspired. The decor is basic and lacks any real character or ambiance. The staff, while polite, don't go above and beyond in terms of customer service. And frankly, the food is just about on par with what you'd find at any other Panda Express location.
Overall, if you're craving some quick, affordable Chinese-American fare and are in the Market St NE area, the Panda Express could work as a reliable, if unremarkable option. But there are certainly more flavorful and unique Chinese food destinations elsewhere in the District. This Panda Express location is ultimately a solid, middle-of-the-road choice - nothing exceptional, but it gets...
Read moreVery negative experience with this store. I come here frequently and do an order pick up at least once a week. I never have an issue. On 7/29/2025, I came to pick up my food and the employee refused to give it to me without an ID. My phone has no reception where the store is located, so I couldn’t load up the email to show my order. However, I said both my first and last name and also provided my charge for the food on my phone. The employee embarrassed me in front of all of the customers and refused to give me my food. She gave it to me once I showed my ID. According to the mobile order function on the Panda Express app, it says that you just need to state that you have a mobile order and say your name (which I did). But the employee decided to be extra as if I was stealing food.
My order was not a DoorDash order and it was done through the Panda Express app. On top of that, I was ignored for several minutes while waiting to pick up my food at the mobile order pick-up section of the store. I will not be going to this location anymore. I provided a screenshot of where it says to just say your name to...
Read moreThis place is garbage, I waited 15 minutes in line to order with only 7 people in front of me. When I ordered they were out of the honey walnut shrimp so I had to wait another 15 minutes after I placed my two other orders in paid for them. After my shrimp was finial ready the female by the name of Ebola at the register at 4:19 pm on 12/31/2018 was working, she handed me the plate after paying $47.85 I ask her to put that order in a seperate plastic bag as the one I had in my hand was getting ready to rip she insisted and said just put it in the bag the others are in I told her no it will rip. Me having to explain myself to why I don’t want to use the same bag to a cashier is outstanding. After I explained to Ebola my situation she said I can’t give you another bag it’ll be .5 cents I said ok give me another bag then so she finally charged me for what I wanted. But I had to say 43 minutes just to get my order is carry out and delivery time. The price I paid would’ve worked out fine with more options and most likely better service. This place is the worst Panda Express I’ve...
