My visit in January whetted my appetite to learn more about the Whiskey Rebellion. I was able to return this summer. Kate was gracious enough to show me through the house and museum even though it was outside their normal hours. She was a wealth of good information. Read moreThe Bradford House in Washington PA was the home of David Bradford, an attorney in the 1790s and an instrumental figure in the Whiskey Rebellion. This was the movement to protest unfair taxes that the Federal Government was imposing on farmers in western PA who depended on selling whiskey as a livelihood.
Although the public areas of the house are limited to the first floor, you do get a good sense of what it was like to live there at that time. The outside spaces include a wishing will and some gardens.
