Masala house is a small Indian restaurant located in the town of Washington, Pennsylvania. They have been serving the community of Washington since 2018 serving authentic Indian food. with a fine taste of authentic Indian food and cheap and reasonable prices. This is one restaurant you cannot pass up in this area. I Felt very welcomed from the moment of walking in the door. Upon arrival I was the only one in this restaurant, that immediately changed within a matter of about 10 minutes. Masala house was completely filled with patrons even waiting for tables. Even with a full restaurant, they were always friendly at the table and quick to service. Service was instant with menu, water and order of my chai tea delivered to my table immediately. Soon after the waiter was quick to take my order that I would be delighted in moments later. The Chai Tea was very flavorful. With a blend of black tea, ginger, cloves, cardamom and cinnamon, the chai is a beautiful balance of smooth and spicy. Served unsweetened was perfect as I could balance the sweetness to the spice to my liking. I even had to order a 2nd cup to go to top my meal off. The lunch thali buffet that I ordered was beyond words. With such a large flavor profile combination my taste buds were never bored. Even after being completely full I found myself still seeking more. The Lunch Thali offered all the 6 different flavours of sweet, salty, bitter, sour, astringent and spicy on one single plate. I would have to say that the chicken masala and fish curry were my two favorites. They were so rich and full of flavor. I could’ve sat down and eaten dishes of each of those. The garlic naan that I ordered on the side was cooked to perfection. The garlic was not over powerful but just enough to match the flavor profile of the Thali platter. If you’re seeking a place for lunch one day, I recommend checking masala house out. There’s something for everyone but definitely check out the Thali platter. You won’t leave hungry or disappointed.

My family and I all got the Masala House version of a buffet called Thali, where you're presented with 6 mini-dishes (all you can eat) but the food is brought TO you), and it was OUTSTANDING. It consisted of 3 curries (Tikka Masala, Korma & and Spinach/Paneer), dahl (lentil soup), cabbage/onion side dish and a dessert (samya). AND you also get a piece of tandoori chicken, a crispy bread, plus four pieces of naan (soft bread). The server explained to me that the "buffet" option is only available Friday (chicken), Saturday (fish) and Sunday (goat). The Chicken Tikka Masala is the BEST I ever had; hubby and son loved it, too! Chicken Korma, a mild cashew curry, was a close second. WOW. Also delicious: the mango lassi! It's sorta like a yogurt smoothie. YUM! The server was so nice and helpful, taking time to answer questions and chat about Indian cooking methods. The only (very slight) minus was the chai tea: it tasted bitter to me, even after 6 (!) packets of sugar, BUT this could be because I'm used to Americanized chai (Starbucks) rather than authentic Indian. We look forward to going back (even though it's a 45 minute drive from where we live)!

Have been twice now and really enjoy the restaurant. They have many items that accommodate gluten free, vegetarian and vegan diets. They offer a lunch, with choices from the menu or a great value buffet sample type meal where they will refill the menu items served. They also offer a full dinner selection. Please note that the restaurant closes for a bit between meals, so check open and closing times. I love my dishes spicy, I order at medium spice. Make sure to ask if you have an issue with spice level, they will make to order. The cauliflower appetizer is delicious and they made it for me as an entree. I think the Samosa and Chana Masala are both excellent as well. Those that I was dining with loved their choices, Chicken Korma and Tikka Masala, both said they would order them again. I’ve noticed many of the buildings in Washington are older and can be a bit drafty on the coldest days of winter. Personally just gives me an extra reason to order tea, but ask for a table away from the door if you’re sensitive. I’ll be back whenever in town!

They recieve a one star overall because of food and service. Order was completely wrong. I tried ro call the store multiple times with no pick up. The paneer is hard and chewy. I almost questioned if it was breaded. They forgot my chicken 65 and garlic Naan. The Naan I recieved was sweet, was not garlic at all. The chettinad, which I ordered "Hot" is mild at best. The kids chicken and rice, was the best, fair warning tho, chicken was actually quite spicy for being labeled "mild", spicier than my chettinad that I ordered "hot". It was served with a red sauce that was sweet but flavorful. I feel like I'd stick to curries, rice and chicken from here. They have the bandwidth to be good, but I probably won't be back. Spent $65 and very disappointed

Had an outstanding visit with my teenage son after seeing so many positive reviews of the lunch Thali special. We both opted for the Thali and enjoyed servings of chicken curry, paneer, tikka masala, veggie sambal, an incredible green bean dish, a warm rice pudding, naan and probably something else I'm forgetting. The food was excellent! The veggie sambal and green beans in particular were delicious, but everything was quite good. The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing and the atmosphere was peaceful. Less than $40 for both of us plus a nice tip. We left absolutely stuffed and satisfied. We absolutely recommend!

I have dined at many Middle Eastern establishments in various cities, and this is definitely one of the top Indian restaurants that I have been to. The tandoori chicken and samosas were the best. Service is quick and the staff was very friendly. It is a smaller space, but they are accommodating and also have carry out orders available. If you have someone in your party who does not tolerate very spicy food, they do adjust the spice level from mild to moderate to hot. I only got to take a picture of one lonely samosa because we ate everything so quickly! I highly recommend trying Masala House.
