I want to so bad give this place 5 stars, but I canât. My mother wasnât feeling well and thought sheâd give Cesar Hill a try due to her being a SE resident and them being new. She figured since it was 10 mins away from her and theyâre new it has to be a win win situation. Upon arrival (Mon, 4/28) all the staff was very nice. From the main hospital front desk to the cafeteria staff. Once we made our way around to the ER, the front desk staff was also just as nice. Wait time wasnât long at all even though there was a nice amount of ppl in the waiting room, but nothing too major. Me, my mom, and 1 yr old daughter got there around 12:30ish, and by 2:20ish my mother was in a triage room. Naomi was her nurse and she was the absolute sweetest. The 2 star rating came from the shift change. Most of the staff was pretty nice but the evening nurse which was a male whose name I forgot, gave very much he didnât want to be there. My mother was experiencing some shortness of breath, confusion, and dizziness and needed to go to the bathroom badly, but had necessary cords connected to her. After asking the evening nurse multiple times if he could remove them, but to no avail, I ended up just doing it myself because she literally couldnât hold it anymore. Due to how my mother felt, my daughter and I waited outside the bathroom for my mother to walk with her back to her room. As I was as standing next to the bathroom door the âhead of securityâ came up to me to ask what room was I a visitor of. After informing her she goes on to say âI donât know who let you back here with that baby, but yaull have to go.â It was a long day and I didnât want to do the most, but I am a bit confused on when the hell it wasnât allowed to have your child with you in the ER. This was around 11:30p and I can ensure anyone reading this we werenât being rude, loud, nor disruptive. I couldâve understood if the security said visitor hours was over or something, but to say she doesnât know who let me back with my daughter after weâd literally been there since noon, is wild to me. I obliged respectfully and went home. Fast forward to around 5:30am I spoke with my mother and she has still yet to be placed in an actual room outside of the ER. She hasnât gotten any oxygen, ice chips, water or updates. I definitely understand the fact that theyâre a new hospital and things will take some adjusting though. I was told by the Dr sometime around 6p yesterday (4/28) that they were working on getting my mother a room. She said there were enough rooms, but not enough staff. This is also another reason for the 2 stars. Knowing that pretty much all hospitals are in NW and nothing really offered to SE is the exact reason this hospital should be over staffed even though itâs new. They have to know SE residents would flock here with high hopes because it saves them a trip from way up NW. It was a little rocky and my mother still doesnât have a room as I type this, but Iâm rooting for Ceddar Hill. SE deserves it.
UPDATE*- following up on my review because Iâm extremely disappointed. During my mother visit she never got admitted into a room and was sent home the very next day after spending the night in triage and being told there was nothing wrong with her. Myself as well as my family knew something wasnât, but we took the their word for it. My mother spent a week or two at home before she was back in the hospital. This time we took her to Sibley and within a few hours of her visit they discovered she had a huge blood clot on her lungs that was causing severe damage to her lungs and heart. They said they could tell itâs been there for a while by the size and damage itâs caused. Every thing she was experiencing was from the clot and Iâm pissed this place missed that and sent her on her way even after she clearly displayed she wasnât. Tread lightly with this place. New or not, the staff is âexperiencedâ and should have found this. She literally couldâve not made it had this went...
Read moreLATEST UPDATE: It's been four months and I finally got a response. I received a letter that listed my complaints. It said that they conducted an investigation. They gave me no results. They then ghosted me. I tried to call and email, but Nicole Williams will not return my emails or calls. Photos of the letters are below.
I was here in April. I spent four days in the ER. I got almost no attention while waiting to be transferred to another hospital. The did not even feed me for three days! Iâve tried to contact customer care, but nobody ever gets back to me. Perhaps someone will contact me now. Here are some of my notes:
[ ] Crack pipe user in bathroom for an hour. I reported it. It took another hour and a half before security checked, leaving the entire waiting room at risk.
[ ] Radiation warning sign missing with clear info on a blue post it note indicating that the hospital was aware. Perhaps the NRC should be contacted.
[ ] Radiology âlostâ me after X-ray for an hour and a half. It told him I had a room but said I must go all the way out to the outer waiting room. Other staff could not find me and thought I left until I spoke to a triage nurse. This might have delayed my transfer by three day, but weâll never know.
[ ] No infectious disease doctor on staff yet you claim to be a real hospital.
[ ] No toothpaste or toothbrush ever. I tried but just gave up.
[ ] No meal for 70 hours. Then zero choice except take it or leave it. I did get an aid to sneak me some graham crackers and applesauce on my third day.
[ ] No diagnostic work except the basic stuff. No follow up.
[ ] First urine sample lost.
[ ] Second urine sample two days later after a dozen complaints. This delayed any culture too long for my safety at your hospital.
[ ] Second urine sample sat in my room for 12 hours before taking it even after at least five requestsdelaying culture result even longer.
[ ] People entering my isolation room without protective gear many times for supplies. At least two people were given barf bags that could be full of my airborne infection.
[ ] Security guard refused to speak one word to me. He would only shrug. When I pointed him out to a doctor, he got up and quickly walked away.
[ ] No discharge paperwork. No paperwork of any kind.
[ ] Phone system down all weekend, but somehow I could get through to billing, which appears more important than patients.
[ ] No labs, scans, or notes sent to Inova, so they were forced to repeat everything at Inova. Should Medicare pay both of you? We will see.
[ ] IV pump beeping for 12 hours. So no needed antibiotics for 12 hours. I could not get anyone to clear it so I unplugged it, unhooked it myself and pushed it out side my room and down the hall. Suddenly people cared. Interesting.
[ ] I was thinking for three days that they are trying to find a hospital to send me to. I saw a note that said they would call Howard tomorrow. Instead of calling elsewhere, they let me get sicker. The notes about the transfer was mistakenly entered in to my lab results. I doubt that is was ever meant for me to see. Full disclosure to your patients, right?
[ ] Protest outside my room due to lack of care and I couldnât get a doctor to care. After yelling âShould you care about a sick person sitting in the middle of the hallwayâ, I I was told that I must be sitting in the hallway floor simply because I chose to. I said âNo. I need help so he walked away.
[ ] Fear of death message to my primary doctor. I actually thought that your hospital would kill me. She got through to your hospital on Monday to rush my transfer. I believe that she saved my life despite your actions.
[ ] My doctor also called your hospital before I arrived and spoke to ER Dr. Williams. No record of that call in your system. The are notes in a (phone) visit summary from my primary GW doctor. Explain that? Did she lie and make up a...
Read moreMy experience was horrible. I went in for difficulty breathing, they had me waiting in waiting room where is was evident I couldn't breathe. There was a nurse there doing triage and she looked at me numerous times struggling to breathe, another nurse came out and said come here after looking at me. She immediately jumped into action after taking my vitals because she was able to see the severity of my condition. They took me to the back gave me a treatment. Left me there for hours after telling me I would need another treatment. My parents finally came after about 4 hours and told the nurse that the machine had been done and I had to use the restroom. The call button either doesn't work, or I was being ignored. The fact that the light came on leads me to believe I was being ignored. The nurse finally came an hour after my mom went to get her and apologized saying she was running around everywhere which I believed her because I saw her so I forgave her. She allowed me to use the restroom and gave me another treatment. I asked for blankets when she gave me the first treatment and I still didn't have those yet. I asked again Abe she said she'll bring them to me. After this second treatment was done, I'm still coughing Abe wheezing with nobody coming in to check on me. My mom went out to speak with a nurse that was at the station right outside of room 19(that's the room I was in), he told her they were still waiting on test results to come back. Mind you, the results go straight to my chart so the results been in Abe said I was sepsis. Nobody told me that though. I'm still waiting on the Dr. I finally saw the Dr in the hall and she said to me either your lungs are collapsing or it's a bad infection. First of all, what do you mean either or? It clearly said sepsis so you already knew it was an infection and instead of being truthful you chose to say "but I'll treat you for an infection because I'm leaving more so on the side of infection". She said someone will come and give me a third treatment along with antibiotics then she walked out.an hour goes by and still no meds. My mom goes to the nurse station again and they direct her to another nurse station saying someone down there can help us. My mom comes back visibly upset (which is alarming because it takes a lot to get my mom upset). I asked what happened she said the response she received was "we'll get to her when we get to her". I think not! I would like to add that the Dr who was working with me sat right there as I was expressing myself but she didn't say not one word. Even after I said that's my doctor right there. I seen multiple people come and go leaving with crutches, you mean to tell me they're more important than someone who can't breathe. There was a nurse who overheard (I can't remember his make but he mentioned he's not an ER nurse and he works upset). He apologized for all of this and said he will get the charge nurse for me. She comes and was super sweet. She also apologized. She was able to help me but I couldn't help but overhear that the nurse that I had was gone. When they do a shift change, I'm used to the nurse coming around saying I'm leaving this will be the nurse to take over. I also overheard nobody was ever assigned to me room and the room I was in was just a spot they take people in when they need a treatment. Everyone kept talking about it in the hall as if I can't hear them. Saint things like "oh well she's not my patient" "well somebody else needs to figure out that because I'm taking care of my patient". That's absolutely horrible Abe I should've never heard that. Even if that's how they felt, me as the patient, I should've never heard that. I felt like I was dying and I had no trust in that hospital. Finally, another doctor came on and said it was pneumonia and asked how I was feeling. I told him I felt horrible but wanted to leave as I no longer had trust that they will...
