I've been here many times. Fun, positive atmosphere, tons to see for all ages. There are dozens of activities to keep the kids occupied - for hours!

Even if you're the parent, grandparent, caregiver of toddler who is sick to death of seeing and hearing about trains - You will still enjoy your visit. You may even find a spark of joy :)

Claire is incredibly cordial and welcoming. All of the VOLUNTEERS (yes, everyone here is a volunteer) are dedicated to making sure every guest enjoys their visit and are as informed and educated as they wish to be.

I'd like to stress the fun, truly FAMILY FREINDLY and truly INTERACTIVE environment. My family and I have been to every train shop, museum and display within a 200 mile radius of St. Louis . This place is very different. Almost every single place we've been to, it's the same dank, musky environment. A space full of cramped, disappointing displays with 'Do not touch' signs all over - Because even though it's advertised as a family friendly and interactive place, the seemingly depressed person behind the counter would rather lock you out as you approach the door than to allow you to come in with child who will touch things. (Don't get me wrong, there is a lot here that should not be touched but there's much more to play with than there is to avoid). I have never, not once, witnessed a shop owner or museum curator bother to get out of their seat while visiting their place. Seriously, not once. If you ask a question, they hollar at you from their seat. I stress - This is NOT the experience you will have at Iron Spike.

Don & the volunteers are constantly working on new set ups and displays and changing out the themes and decor seasonally. If you went to visit last year or the year before - Go back again! A lot has changed. There are always new things to see, learn and do. With the many other things to do around town, you can easily make it a day trip or weekend away - I promise, you...

Railroad history and trains whether toy or actual locomotives have always fascinated me.

They are a huge part of our transportation history and this magical little place has a slice of it that will frankly, leave you speechless.

The Iron Spike Model Train Museum is incredible. Volunteers have spent THOUSANDS of hours assembling huge model train vignettes that capture snapshots in time from eras long gone by.

Marvel at the one of the world's smallest fully-operational model trains and some of the the grandest to ever roll down a track. Browse through their incredible research library dedicated to railroad and locomotive history. There's more to do here than initially meets the eye.

It's adult and kid friendly, too. Need your own model train repaired? They can help you out. Looking to buy a set and all the extras to build your own? You can do that here, too.

This place is definitely worth the visit and is in a charming...

A massive warehouse filled wall to wall with different sized model train displays. An unbelievable amount of attention to detail and care went into setting these displays up! Even if you don’t have an interest in model trains, you can appreciate the scale, effort, and artistic touch it took to build these incredible displays. The $8 per adult price to get in is well worth it! It keeps the museum operational and helps with maintenance. The staff are all very friendly and you get a little tour to start before you’re allowed to free roam. They even have a (very challenging) scavenger hunt for guests to participate in on a daily basis. Neither my wife or myself are model train enthusiasts and we still really enjoyed...

Iron Spike Train Museum is one of my favorite places. I visit them occasionally, and they always seem to have something new. Yesterday, as I walked among their train exhibits, I noticed how large their train display is. Pictured are Don and Claire Saucier, owners of Iron Spike. The other photo is of a couple of volunteers doing repair work on a transformer. Did I mention they are a 501C3? Any donations go toward running and operating the museum. It is a really nice train museum, and it is enjoyable to see all of the model trains they have displayed. There is an old caboose in the process of being renovated, too. I will definitely visit again. ☺️

Life is like a train journey, where we meet fellow travelers at different stations. Whether your a child, teen, young adult or senior citizen you'll find this train museum quite fascinating. The staff are warm and inviting and have many stories to share about the originators of the train exhibits. So many different layouts to see. Trains from the early 1930s to present. Even have a really cool Lego train exhibit. If you're a train enthusiast or just looking for somethingfun to do with the family, I recommend visiting Iron Spike Model Train, fun for all ages.
