GameStop — Attraction in Watchung

I recently visited this location to purchase a gift card, and the experience was extremely disappointing. The only cashier available was holding up the line to assist a customer whose card wasn’t working, calling the bank and trying to resolve their financial situation. Instead of moving on to help other customers, the cashier kept the entire line waiting.When it was finally my turn, I asked for a gift receipt just in case the recipient encountered any issues. The cashier rudely responded, “For what? You can’t even return a gift card,” which was completely unnecessary. He then added that I couldn’t purchase a gift card with another gift card, which was irrelevant as I was clearly using a credit card. The lack of professionalism and respect for customers at this location is unacceptable. I will not be returning. Staff here need serious training on how to communicate effectively and courteously...

This store does not know how to send cards to PSA. The person who was helping me tried to convince me that all they needed to do was put it in a penny sleeve. Thank God I watched a video on an actual gamestop employee showing the correct process. Please do not come here to send your PSA cards until they understand the process better! This is a completely new process so I understand that there is a knowledge curve but the employee was adamant he was correct, which is a little worrying. Hopefully they will work on training a bit more and be a more polished experience.

Edited: The employee actually called me back to apologize and has received the hard cover card savers from FedEx. I really appreciated the extra step in calling me back when he did not have too. Hopefully the process will become smoother...

I had a wonderful customer service experience at the Watchung GameStop recently. My 5 year old was playing the sample games that were in the back of the store and was about to go into meltdown mode. The Gamestopper working there whose name was AJ picked up on it and came over and completely redirected her and was able to prevent disaster. I was so happy. Possibly the best customer service I've ever seen.

So thanks AJ! And thanks Game Stop! Game Stop is a really great store that reminds me of the record stores I used to go to. You can buy a game new, play it out and then sell it back to them to get some money back to buy even more games. For a national corporate chain that's pretty homey and cool. And they have anything you could want video games wise. So ten stars to AJ...
