Delmonico's Olde Time Butcher Shoppe — Attraction in Waterford Township

I have visited this place three times and on my last occasion I picked out several different unusual frozen meats—elk, venison and rabbit. The rabbit’s sell by date was March 2025 (I also thought another one of the meats were also expired) so I called and spoke with a man who informed me there wasn’t any more Rabbit for a later date, but I could bring back the Rabbit for a refund (he sounded a little combative). I received a call back from the store a little later with a man saying I was in error, that the date on the other meat was still good until next year and they had more frozen rabbit available and could exchange the rabbit I purchased. I said cool, I’ll bring back the rabbit and exchange it. I returned to the store and grabbed the rabbit from the freezer which now expires in March 2026 and exchanged it. When I got into my car something felt off and I sense something wrong. So I check the label more closely and a brand new label was affixed to the frozen rabbit. It looked as if it were printed today because it pilled right off the package, it was covering remnants of an older label (the older label was yellowing) and new label was added while the meat was frozen…it would not adhere to the frozen package. I brought it back for a full refund (which they provided) and the person ringing me up ( a woman) tried to play me for a fool…with a less than honest response. I can never trust a business like this. They do have a good selection of meats, the prices are much higher than other markets and even Grocers. They asked me if I bought there before I said yes. I said prices seem a little higher now, as I walked down looking to make my meat selections I believe the owner stated to his associates you need to compare apples to apples the comment was aimed towards me comparing prices, if you're going to talk about your customers wait till they leave the store. It's my money if I was spending his money fine I would spend it it's my money therefore I am going to compare prices because you are not the only butcher shop in town you are by no means the number one. I was planning on buying my Meats for the month which I normally do once a month here at Delmonico's butcher and they now have lost a customer due to his rudeness, the last time I was here it was the same way he claims his selections are the best and that nobody else compares to him. I generally have nothing but good things to say when I’ve visited but when I called today I had the worst customer experience. I called to ask if they had large prime rib roasts and what the pricing was (trying to check pricing for a birthday 2 weeks out where I expect to need 10+ pounds of roast) and the man who answered was extremely condescending and asked if I ordered a week ago they would have had them and hung up. I then called back and a women who was very nice answered, and told me the price and when I asked if they have any available (to try before buying a whole 10+ lb roast) I could hear the same man in the back ground yelling “ WE ARNT TAKING ANYMORE ORDERS!! IF THEY WANT ONE THEY CAN COME UP HERE AND WAIT IN THE BACK OF THR LINE”. First time having a negative experience but I won’t purchase...
