This place is awesome. GO CHECK THIS OUT. I called ahead of time as I was going to be cutting it close for time and had a 2 hour drive just to get there. I'm from Canada so the chances of me getting to be this close again are slim. The two gents working the museum were fantastic. They were waiting for my arrival and greeted me with warmth and enthusiasm. Then Brian took me on a personal tour which I have to say was perfectly executed. Brian's knowledge of not only the history of John Deere (and I'm talking every specific date you can think of). but the mechanics and differences of each and every machine we talked about was mind blowing. Really, his ability to explain absolutely everything was astounding. Wow. To be honest, getting to spend some time learning from him made the entire trip worth it for me. The collection there is also unlike anything you will ever see any where else in the world. Thank you very much gentlemen. The only let down was the gift shop. I had my heart set on a Green John Deere hoodie. Nothing, in fact every hoodie in there was a XXL. Nothing for sizes at all. The kind lady said it had been hard to get stock but come on, I'm at JD headquarters LOL. This is where I should be able to get these things.
Either way, Go see Brian and take in this part of...
Read moreLoved it! Stopped in from my road trip and was absolutely surprised by not only what Deere had to offer but also from the two ex-Deere employees, now JDTM employees and how well they know their stuff (and treat musuem- goers like their somebodies)!
Someone said that JDTM had more to offer than JUST tractors & engines! No they DO NOT but hey that's enough! History all in the walls and halls of JDTM (little known fact, the floors are original floors from the historic building that was housed in that site for hundreds of years). Another fact, $2.1M in 1918 was a boat- load of money ($19.6M in 22' dollars). Another fact, Deere president at the turn-of-the- century didn't want to be innovative in tractor making.... IT'S A GREAT THING SEVERAL MINDS ARE BETTER THAN THE FEW...
COME SEE JDTM, ASK LOTS OF QUOTATIONS, AND LEARN HOW DEERE SHAPED THE COUNTRY NOT ONLY AGRICULTURALLY BUT ALSO POLITICALLY,...
Read moreWe took a day trip up here back in early May to visit this place and it was worth the free admission and it was a lot of fun seeing some of the old farm machinery and old and newer tractors and you can even sit on some of them. I saw 3 tractors, a 730 diesel tractor, a 4020 diesel tractor and a 4440 diesel tractor that we had on our farm and a 1948 John Deere Model B my one grandpa had and my other grandpa had a 1946 60 gas tractor It seems just like old times and great memories looking at these neat stuff that was just so cool to look back and reminisce. My great grandpa, my grandpa, my dad were all John Deere farmers and I helped on the farm too and I know I don't help do any farming anymore but I'll always be a John Deere man and a farmer's son. Please go visit this wonderful place. You won't be disappointed. 👍🚜 Definitely given this a 5...
