I have been there four times in the last week to try lots of different things. I was recommended to go here by coworkers. Went there with different groups of people each time. The first time was with my wife and I got one of the grinder burgers and the wife tried the Iowa ramen. We also had the chips with salsa and guac as an appetizer. The burger was great, but I feel a bit pricey for the size. The fries were served with a very sweet ketchup that also caught me off guard. The fries themself were great though. The chips tasted fine but the dips were a bit odd. Never had a guac with such a sweet flavor and the salsa tasted like sweet chili. They were good, but sometimes you expect a certain flavor from a classic. The ramen however was an utter disappointment. It seemed cooked with cheap packet noodles and it was something like $14 which was entirely too much. I will say the tip the cow stout was very good.
The second time was with my brother and his girlfriend. We tried the artichoke bread which was alright but really heavy on the artichoke. I guess it's in the name. This time I got chicken and waffles and their version of the White Russian drink. Both were amazing. My brother got the identical and also loved it. The umami burger his girlfriend got was also amazing. I like this combo so much I got it again the third time with my daughter just without the artichoke bread.
The fourth time I went with some friends. We tried out the pretzel which was served with a delicious spicey mustard and beer cheese. They both got burgers and I had to get my favorite from the last two times. Sadly the chicken and waffles were very dry this time and the Russian drink tasted like straight tip the cow stout. I like the stout but it wasn't what I paid for.
Overall some items are very good but some seem over experimented with. Chips, salsa, and guac give a certain expectation. There also seems to be some inconsistency issues with drinks and the food. All cooks and bartenders should be on the same page with how menu items are made. Its disappointing when items that seem so good one day taste entirely different a few days later. There is a unique ambiance and my toddler daughter loves the play area. Kind if...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe came here to celebrate my birthday and was kinda disappointed. Upon arrival we had to deal with a struggle to get from where we parked (The brewery's parking lot was closed) to the building entrance due to a race that was being held. When we entered the building there was nobody to greet us and we weren't sure where to go. We sat in a booth and a server informed us that the dining room was closed due to a private party. When I said there was no sign and that the website and Facebook gave no indication, they said it was a last minute thing. So then, slightly embarrassed, we had to go to the bar area with our tails between our legs. The bar area consisted of several super long cafeteria style tables. I know I sound old, but no back on them made it rather uncomfortable. Food and drinks are ordered by using a QR code to access the order system. That actually went pretty smoothly but might be a challenge for the technology illiterate. Wife got fish and chips, I got the classic burger. The fish was a really nice sized piece that was absolutely delicious. My burger was a little above average but nothing very remarkable. Patty was thin and on the tough side. Definitely not worth the $16 price after the addition of bacon. Along with my burger i ordered a beer flight. It was a challenge to pick 4 that I wanted to try because a good amount of choices were IPA and I can't stand IPAs. As a stout and porter guy I should have known the herd would be thin during the summer. Tip the Cow was awesome, the cherry sour was good. The other 2 which I can't remember the names of were just okay. Do I recommend SingleSpeed? I'm not really sure. Food was pretty good but not pricey. As far as beer: I'd say check the selection on their website before going to make sure they have...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI will not be a repeat customer. Today was both my first, and last, time ever patroning this establishment. The atmosphere left a lot to be desired. SingleSpeed Brewing Co. is basically a glorified cafeteria with inflated prices and very basic food. It was one of the most impersonal dining experiences Iāve ever encountered.
I found it rather presumptuous, not to mention premature, to be asked to provide a tip before I even received service. Patrons should be made aware that a 10% service charge will be applied to their bill. The fact that their QR code menu encourages you to provide a tip on top of the service charge makes it all the more galling. The service, what little of it we received, was sorely lacking.
I wasnāt a fan of the QR code menu. Iām a visual person. I like to know exactly what Iām ordering. Photos and a description are always helpful tools when deciding what I want to eat.
I ordered a classic burger with bacon, sans everything but the lettuce and onion with sauce on the side, as I had no idea what said sauce even was. It still came out to me with pickles on it. Sure, they were easily removed, but I didnāt order it that way. According to their so-called menu, their classic burger comes with āspecial sauce,ā without any mention of what it is. Good thing I opted to have it on the side and not on the burger itself, because it certainly didnāt pair well. Every sauce I tried was offensively off-putting to my taste buds. Even something as simple as mayo (for which they charge extra for) didnāt taste quite...
