I visited the Michigan Maritime Museum this past Friday, and it was such a cool experience. Right from the start, the museum had a welcoming vibe — the staff were super friendly, easy to talk to, and seemed genuinely excited to have visitors. They made the whole place feel more relaxed and fun.

One of my favorite parts was the game area. It’s not every day you go to a museum and actually get to play around and interact with things, so that definitely stood out. The museum also has a bunch of real historical pieces that give you a deeper appreciation for Michigan’s maritime history. It’s not just displays behind glass — you actually get to push buttons, try activities, and explore in a hands-on way.

The interactive buttons scattered throughout the exhibits were awesome. It kept things interesting and helped explain the history in a way that didn’t feel boring or overwhelming. We had a group of teens (ages 14–17), and everyone found something to enjoy. Some were into the historical ships, others liked the tech and games — there’s honestly something for every type of person, no matter your age.

The museum is also easy to find and navigate. It’s not huge, so it doesn’t feel like a marathon to get through, but there’s still a lot packed into the space. Whether you're into history or just looking for something different to do with friends or family, I’d definitely recommend checking it out.

Overall, the Michigan Maritime Museum is a fun and engaging place that mixes history with hands-on learning. It’s perfect for anyone looking to learn a little and have a good...

I wish I could give zero stars to this company. Our family will not get to partake in the scheduled sunset sail boat ride when we go on our vacation in Michigan. I purchased 4 tickets online. In the process, I also helped my parents navigate the website to purchase their tickets as well so we could all ride together. I must have clicked on the wrong date and purchased tickets for a date we would not be in the state of Michigan. This was a $200 purchase. I spoke to a manager and a staff member the next day, and the manager refused to reschedule my ticket date for when we were actually in the state of Michigan (we live in Ohio). So, we basically donated $200 to this museum. The manager claimed this was the policy and the date we bought tickets for was sold out and they wouldn't be able to "recoup" their money if they rescheduled us.

This is ridiculous and it's stealing people's money. I am so disappointed in this company and their poor policies and poor customer service. I will Never give them a dime for anything ever again. They should be ashamed of treating their customers like this. Good luck to anyone purchasing tickets online.

Additional information I should add: I never asked this company for a refund, so the fact they mentioned this multiple times in their reply is sad. All I asked for was good customer service in rescheduling our purchase. It's obvious they do not care about new customers and just need the money apparently....

📸 🥰 Had the chance to capture a wedding at the Michigan Maritime Museum, and wow, what a spot! This place isn't your average wedding venue; it's a full-on experience. Like our bride making her entrance in a dinghy boat! So cool!!

The museum offers this amazing blend of nautical charm and history, which means every corner is a photo op waiting to happen. The waterfront setting gave us some incredible backdrops as well as the local town and parks right next door to the venue.

And the night ending with a huge dance party? Absolutely epic. The energy was through the roof, and it made for some unforgettable photos. 🥳

Props to the venue staff too – they were all about making the day smooth and special. Everyone, from the couple to their guests, had nothing but great things to say about them.

For couples looking for a venue with a unique twist and endless opportunities for amazing photos, the Michigan Maritime Museum in Michigan is a stellar choice. Already looking forward to heading back for another round of maritime wedding magic!

This is a very cute museum, nicely arranged and displayed and very clean. There are several small buildings which house exbihits of small boats and watercraft, as well as nice signage explaining everything. We were very disappointed that our ride on the Friends Good Will was canceled due to higher-than-usual waves on the lake -- we were surprised because it was a beautiful morning, but there had been a storm the night before. So while we were frustrated, it was just one of those things and we certainly can't blame the museum; in fact, they made the right call in priotizing safety. It definitely gives us a reason to go back!
