Six Chicks Scratch Kitchen — Restaurant in South Haven

Really bummed to have to post this as we truly love small businesses and places like this that bring communities together. My husband and I grocery shop in South Haven once a week and have been excited to get to town early and grab breakfast here. We loved the atmosphere and sat at the bar/counter. We were greeted promptly and ordered some waters and coffees - followed by food not too much later. We were loving it! They were busy so we were prepared to wait a bit for food. However, we ended up sitting without any refills for about 10 minute until a different server asked if we had been helped yet and thought we were sitting at a dirty bar spot. She made it right and filled us up and we were back to enjoying our experience! Not a huge deal one bit. Breakfast came and it was AMAZING! Another couple sat by us when we were about halfway through our meals and struck up a conversation. We were enjoying our time having a nice convo with them as we wrapped up our meals. We received our check, paid up, and I had about 3/4 cup of coffee left that I anticipated finishing as we wrapped up our conversation. Not even 5 minutes after we paid our bill, the server rudely interrupted us and goes "I'm sorry there's people waiting to eat and you've been here awhile". We were mortified. Embarrassed. Weren't sure how to react. We were nothing but kind and understanding. We weren't even there an hour. There were open booths and only 3 people waiting. I was so embarrassed that I never finished my coffee. We awkwardly ended our convo and felt as if we were pushed out the door. Sadly that left a pretty rough impression on our first time. The food was great. The atmosphere was perfect for community engagement. But however, our server must not have cared much for us. Moral to the story, as soon as you cash out- be prepared to leave so you don't end up embarrassed...

expensive staff friendliness & attention to detail is poor Cinnamon Roll was the only good thing here I'm not sure how to rate this place, mainly because of the lack of appreciation the staff made us feel. We came in and the young hostess didn't offer our kid any children's menu or crayons😕 even after I asked the hostess for a children's menu for our kid, we asked one of the servers for children's menu & crayons and they were more than happy to get these for us.

Also the table we were sat at by the hostess was completely out of hot sauce & regular sugar and only had a couple creamers for coffee ☕ we felt uncomfortable like we were asking too much of the staff, I'm not sure if we would ever want to return to this location again because of all of this not to mention the food except out eggs were cold 😔 I asked the server to please make sure my eggs were on their own plate and I still received them onto of my biscuits and gravey😔 having eggs mixed with biscuits and gravey sounds kinda disgusting. I asked for the hashbrowns to please be well done and they were cooked normally just done but not well done and were cold. The only thing we experienced here that was good was the homemade Cinnamon Roll everything else was awful from the service to the cold food and the feeling unappreciated and uncomfortable having to ask for common table condiments, we will not be returning to this location again in the future the $59 after tip we spent was not worth the food or awful...

These great reviews are MIND BLOWING 🤯!! Service TERRIBLE. Our waitress Jeanne, something like that, rude and terrible. Did not check on us at all but she did every table around us. Yelled & clenched her teeth at one young lady who was hosting, I believe, while taking our order. But was very sweet to a young lady who was serving. Awkward. At the end of what we did eat, I ended up ordering pancakes because I just couldn't w my bkfast wrap and extremely greasy potatoes, which had random sweet potatoes diced & fried w regular potatoes. Very weird and NOT a fan of sweet potatoes. My guy had to stop her EVERY time we needed anything. When I asked for an order of pancakes, she said, full stack pancakes??...& fled quick af as I looked up to ask HOW MANY are in a full stack. Can't get over how bad and unprofessional it was. Hole in the wall diner. Outdated which is fine if you get the friendly, welcoming vibe which we didn't.

They have flavored creamer tho for coffee. Prob the best thing about the place 🥴.

Seems like regulars get five star service from MEAN JEANNE. I'd give this place zero based solely on her...
