My husband and I love coming over to this area. I enjoy walking the banks of the river to find rocks. There is a park (walking trail) that is beautiful. The birds and turtles as well as different plant life is awesome. I must comment however the homeless community that stands by the gasstation begging for money breaks my heart as I believe more could be done for homelessness. There is one specific homeless man who yes, you'll see drinking a beer from time to time but, I myself have given him a few dollars and had a chance to converse. He seems to be very intelligent just needs help. Sometimes the homeless really just need an i.d and a hot shower as well as less people to judge them. Americans as a whole have it made more than they Sometimes can see. Spreading positivity in the community with encouraging affirmations goes a long way as well. People don't always know WHY someone is homeless so before we judge we should understand better the situation. Visit this area, embrace its surroundings and enjoy!

I came here this morning to record the sunrise so I took some picture instead as it was a bit more cloudy. It's from my phone so not best.

Very pretty bridge. Nice views. Wide bike lane. Great spot to cross the river and hit the bike trails.

By Wikipedia, there was an Old Clark Bridge that carried U.S. Route 67 across the Mississippi River between West Alton, Missouri and Alton, Illinois. That bridge It was built on 1924 and replaced by the new one on 1994. There is a Civil War Memorial if you take the little road accessible from both sides of the highway on the Missouri side of this bridge. You can drive right up to the Mississippi River and fish if you like or just enjoy the view. There are public restrooms, a picnic area, and duck blinds set up in the marshy area adjacent to...
