Update: I did the math. My Just Desserts found a way to get a (former) customer to pay full price for a single slice of stale mangled dessert that was thrown into the trash after two bites. I had thought maybe I would edit the review to say the brownie (or sheet cake, I'm not really sure) was actually good despite my bad experience. But, no. It tasted like something you'd make from a box and let your kid decorate then forgot about for five days. Looked bad, tasted bad, overall bad experience. I am giving two stars instead of one as I have enjoyed this restaurant in the past, where it will remain.
I have been here many times before and it has always been great. I was excited to see that they were on a new favorite app, Too Good to Go. The concept of the app is that local restaurants and grocers can sell nearly expired items for a discount. The pies and cakes here are normally great, as well as soups and sandwiches. When I saw they were advertising 18 dollars worth of desserts for 6 dollars I immediately snapped up the deal. When I showed the young lady my app she went to the basement then came back up to the kitchen. A few minutes later I was given a single mangled dessert that looks like a Halloween themed brownie. Halloween was 5 days ago. I wouldn't pay 6 dollars for this, and if someone said Hey this is an 18 dollar dessert, I would say What are you insane?
This was always a favorite spot to take my grandmothers. My mom likes it. My friends like it. I am totally soured now and won't be...
Read moreWanted to support this local business after seeing they might need to close their doors. We were disappointed in the quality of the food and the price.
Prices online were less expensive than what we were charged.
Hot ham and cheese sandwich: wasn’t even attempted to be heated up. Chips were mostly crumbs and the amount was minimal.
The Turkey club was good. Requested no tomato or no lettuce and it had both, not a big deal but you’d like to get your food the way you order it.
Salad: dressing tasted watered down, never knew what I was getting with every bite. Some bites tasted great while some bites tasted like straight dirt or super bitter.
When we walked in, we stood by the front counter and the employee just looked right past us, no greeting or acknowledgment or anything. The owner came over after we stood around for a couple Minutes and was polite and told us we could sit anywhere. Our server was nice.
Overall disappointed with the first Experience. Price was high for the amount of food. The food was decent at best. Probably...
Read moreI have fond memories of this place, having come here several times when I was young with my mom and grandma. It has a rustic charm, and the service has always been friendly. I have ate here several times as an adult though, and I have to say that while their dessert is outstanding, their main lunch fare is bland. Across the street at another restaurant, they're churning out specialty deli sandwiches that are really interesting and packed with flavor. I wish My Just Desserts could borrow some of that inspiration and make a solid menu for lunch so I would want to eat here more often.
If you've got a sweet tooth though, I've never had a bad dessert here. Every pie is tasty, and they make whole pies that you can take home for...
