Your Event Space (Formerly WOW Event Center) — Local services in Alton

We had our wedding at Your Event Space recently and it was everything and more than we hoped for! First of all, Barbie is so warm and caring. I was planning my wedding from across the world, and I felt so reassured by how communicative and available she always made herself to answer my questions and meet my requests. The venue's decoration room is packed with everything you could need for your special day, and they took great care of us by doing all the decoration work and clean up at the end. The space itself is absolutely gorgeous -- all my friends and family continue to comment how much they loved the venue and how beautiful it was. One aspect I really liked was how the bar and catering were in a separate room but still just a few steps away from the reception room. Very classy. The prep rooms are GORGEOUS with a fridge and bar-top in the next room so that you can brunch while you get ready. We were allowed in at 8 a.m. and had full run of the place. And I knew that my fiance was safely in the other wing of the building with his own comfortable (and beautiful!) prep room that didn't risk him running into me before our first look. I attended a wedding last fall at this newer banquet hall. It was pretty, but I think the maximum capacity should be lowered. We could barely fit between the long tables to get out so you felt like you were trapped once you sat in your seat. It took forever for everyone to get their food from the buffet and there was only one bar so the drink lines were always long. Also, there are definitely not enough bathrooms to accommodate a large amount of people. Most of the guests spent a lot of time waiting in line for the bathrooms (and the area was so small, they were all basically on top of each other). Also, it would be nice if there was some type of ventilation system or they turned on the AC in the room with the dance floor. My fiancé and I toured a lot of venues, and none of them were what we were looking for or in our price range. Then we toured Your Event Space with Barbie and fell in love with the venue. As well as their hotel down the road. We were on a fixed budget and discussed at length with Barbie and found a solution that would work for both of us. We had a weekday wedding and had the venue for 7 hours. Able to do a first look, get a bunch of wonderful photos, have a beautiful ceremony, and get some dancing in.
