"I have always enjoyed visiting the Westfield Athenaeum, particularly for its beautiful architecture and the rich history within its walls. The extensive collection of books and the peaceful atmosphere make it a great place to learn and explore.
However, my experience took a turn when I visited the youth section. I found books aimed at children that I believe are misleading, particularly regarding topics of identity and gender. As a Christian, I believe that God created man and woman, and these books seemed to promote confusion rather than clarity, steering children away from the truth.
It concerns me that these materials push a 'woke' ideology that isn’t grounded in facts, but rather reflects the influence of a cultural agenda that opposes biblical truths. Read moreWhenever I borrow books or DVD's and then return them, a few days later I get a email saying that I need to return the stuff (that I had already returned) and then when I go to the library, and I have to search for the DVD's or books and then take them to the front desk and PROVE that I did in fact return them! Oh, and the DVD's are already back in their security cases, but the idiot who puts them back NEVER and I mean NEVER scans them in to show that I have returned them! Read moreI enjoy coming here with my kids... they have a lot of planned activities for kids (in the Boys and Girls Library part) and summer reading program. The building is beautiful (1800's) and includes an area to exhibit art. They do have a museum as well but I am not sure it has been open due to the pandemic. Worth seeing all the same.
