Fort Washington State Park - Flourtown Day Use Area — Attraction in Whitemarsh Township

Fort Washington State Park is a multi-sectional park connected by county park lands allowing for the continuous hiking of the Green Ribbon Preserve Trail. The Flourtown Area features a ballfield with lots of picnic tables, a volleyball court and a modern bathroom. There is also a picnic pavilion with two grills. Behind the pavilion is a nature trail. Beyond the ballfield you'll see a sign indicating a wetland project is under way (see picture). This is a hiking trail only. The Wissahickon Creek is stocked with trout in the spring. This looks like a small place, but it has ample parking, 50 picnic tables, grills, a beach volleyball court, a kickball field, a few pavilions, and indoor bathrooms. Hidden in an urban setting. The Green Ribbon trail in the park leading towards Valley green inn is not the prettiest trail. I came across a lot of gnat flies due to the swampy surroundings, but you still can eke out a fair hike if you venture a bit off road from the paved path. The creek water isn’t very appealing either.
