I have eaten and worked in many restaurants over the years and I have never experienced such poor customer service in my life, not even in McDonalds. Me, my wife and everyone I know, absolutely love the El Limon Ambler location. So, we figured the Flourtown location would be just as good, only less busy. First, they skimp you on food portions. Second, my first time getting takeout from them I was told my food would be ready in twenty minutes and waited a full hour before someone realized I was still waiting. Turns out they gave my food to the wrong person. Accidents happen so I figured “hey, it’s a new spot, give them time. And I’m sure they will comp your meal or give you a gift certificate or something.” Nope. They didn’t offer me anything and when I asked for a comp I was told by the manager that they couldn’t do that. I’m not one to let one bad experience deter me though so we tried them again on Saturday night after a long day. We picked up our food, drove 15 minutes to home, only to find the food wasn’t what we ordered. My wife had even confirmed with the girl at the counter that the food was in fact what we ordered. So, on our drive back to the restaurant I called over and over so they could perhaps have our food ready when we arrived. No answer. When we did get there my wife spoke first because she is more mature than me when she’s upset. She kindly told the young lady at the counter what happened, the girl didn’t apologize and said it would be a few more minutes. Did I mention they weren’t busy? Because they weren’t. For a Saturday night, it was dead. My wife asked the girl if she would be comping our meals. A man came out, the girl spoke to him in Spanish telling him about our request. The man smirked, laughed and in a very condescending tone said “no.” We got our money back and I told them that I knew what was going on but they didn’t care. The guy was just smiling acting as if I was crazy for even asking. I have worked in four restaurants. One of the first rules I was taught in each one was that if a customer was unhappy for any reason you comp their meal. This El Limon was ready to throw away four entire meals but not give us two free ones for wasting our time and gas. I’ve never seen anything like it. Save your time and money, just go to the...
Read moreThis is just a great go to spot for quick easy really delicious food at a good price. First hot day in a while. My daughter, in the 5th inning yells to the dug out from the pitchers mound at the Church and Paper Mill Road complex, “can we go to El Limon” after the game. After yelling at her to focus on the game, I agreed if she threw strikes. The little bugger did it. So there we went. It’s a little tight, pulling in and the parking lot is often full because there are only a few spots. Do not let that slow your pace by thinking that it’s too busy. Walking in there were a handful of tables and the usual friendly staff. Big smiles. Always generally clean and inviting. Seat yourself. For the love of all things, don’t sit near the TV because it’s always on very very loud for music. But the beat will have you doing Mariachi almost instantly. I’m not sure if this is new or I just was never aware, but they now are matching one of their competitors by offering free margaritas. We always get a mixed pack of taco Supremes, including Tinga, chorizo and asada. When I’m feeling lucky, I order the tortilla soup. Really spectacular with big chunks of avocado. and has a kick to it. It’s funny when you walk in somewhere in a sports uniform somebody inevitably asks you, “did you win?” And tonight the answer was yes. We won on and off the field. Be a winner and go...
Read moreMy wife and I have been to many, many authentic Mexican restaurants over the years, and El Limon falls drastically short of all of them. We both left the restaurant very disappointed with our meals, starting with the chips and salsa. First off, we had to pay for it. This is only the second time in my memory (I'm in my 50s) that I had to pay for chips and salsa. But what really brought me down was that the "salsa" was nothing more than pico de gallo. It wasn't even close to being salsa. Once the meals arrived, the disappointment continued. My wife's burrito had mole sauce that was WAY too sweet. The burrito itself had rice, beans and chicken and cheese inside, with the majority being segmented inside, not spread evenly throughout. My chicken fajita came on a plate, not on a sizzling skillet like every other fajita I've ever ordered. As far as the taste, the chicken had an odd aftertaste that I really didn't care for. The one positive was the waitress, who was very nice and friendly. Overall, a very disappointing Mexican meal and we will definitely not be making a...
