Hello! I wanted to take the time and fill out a brief review, my family and I were just in this last weekend! You guys had some amazing exhibits!! We rather enjoyed our time here! I only give you a two star rating for the following reason!
As my family of five (me, my wife, my son, my two daughters (7y and 3m) as we got onto the elevator one of your staff members, an elderly gentleman preceded to join our ride to lower floor, as he is doing so I try to position my youngest (3 months old!) daughter who is in the stroller away from this gentleman, he sees what I am trying to accomplish and proceeds to say “hold on, hold on, I’m trying to see the little one and you’re taking her away from me” and reaches out and touches her foot.. NOT AT ALL okay… red flags flew up and I let the gentleman know “ I’m trying to do so because she is only 3m old, please do not touch my baby again!” I said so very loudly so he might get the hint then, he didn’t because he then put his hand on my back trying to calm me? There is no calming down in that situation, I think some educational meeting needs to be held with all your staff members, mandatory, should be held.. it is never okay to approach someone’s child, especially so young...
Read moreWe went to visit the museum on our way out of town. It's small and only takes 2-3 hours to get through everything. Most of the displays are very close to the walkway, so there are A LOT of "Pease do not touch..." signs. The first floor is all fossils, many dug up in Kansas, and ancient history displays. The second floor is all war displays, from the Civil War to Vietnam. I found this floor very disheartening, as there is so much war in our history and there are some descriptive signs of atrocities. But there is also a display of presidential correspondence, which has photocopies of their actual handwriting and/or signature, with several quotations from each president that was very enlightening. The third floor has a small Old West display, the highlight of which is a display you CAN touch, a saddle with a sign encouraging you to help your kids onto it. There is also a playroom for the kids with a stage and playhouse. Some of the second and third floors were under construction. The gift shop area at the entrance has some local merchandise, but is mainly commercial products, toys and things that kids would like, related to...
Read moreWhen visiting the museum today the woman working the customer service desk, Gabbe Meloccaro, spoke in an extremely rude tone. Both my wife and I were wearing our masks, as per the signs posted. Mine was worn a little lower so that my glasses would not fog, but it was still covering my nostrils. Gabbe ordered me to pull my mask up all the way above my nose, disregarding the fact that I wear glasses. I pulled my mask up, and then I requested she speak to me more politely. She barked back, "I said the word please!" My wife tried to explain that it was the tone in which she spoke that was rude, and she rolled her eyes. At this time we asked for the manager's name and contact information. Gabbe said there is no manager on duty and that she probably would not bother getting back with me. The museum should probably consider requiring personnel to learn how to speak to their patrons properly, many larger companies require personnel to go through training. Our family will not be visiting the museum until a full apology has been issued, and we will definitely be telling our friends about...
