I rate this BBQ place in KS an overall: C+
In order to try as much variety as possible, for appetizers: Cheese fries with BBQ meat (pulled pork) - delicious (A). We also ordered an individual 1 large spare rib - also delicious (A). The meat was soft and flavorful with good smoke flavor.
For main courses: Pulled Pork Sandwich (B+) - They seem to be using the wrong bread for this sandwich. Way too much bread - tough to eat as a sandwich - so my wife just ate the meat which was very good.
I ordered the Two Meat Combo with Brisket - which the server said, I absolutely had to order because it was the most popular choice, my other choice of meat was the hot link, For sides, I ordered the beans and the Mac & Cheese.
Let's start with the sides (both a B+) - the beans were good - soft texture, good bbq sauce on them and a nice smoke flavor. The Mac & Cheese had good flavor, but the pasta (the Mac) was way overcooked to the point of being really soft & mushy. That said - good flavor.
The hot link was the best meat in the dish - (A-) - the flavor was spot on, just the right amount of heat and the only thing I would say as to improvements, is that the sausage casing was very tough to break through with your teeth. The usual "snap" one could expect from a hot link was just not there. I had to use a knife to break through the skin.
I saved the brisket for last because it was the most highly recommended. (C-). While there was a smoke ring and there was a decent smoke flavor on the meat, the flavor was really lacking and the very most disappointing thing was that I couldn't bite through the brisket. I tried the "pull test" and the meat just stretched and would not break. I had to use the provided butter knife to try to cut the brisket into bite sized pieces. The brisket portion was 2 decent sized pieces and all I could do was to barely finish half of one slice.
If your travels take you through Wichita, KS and you're looking for some killer Kansas BBQ, I would advise to look elsewhere. Bite Me BBQ - could,...
Read moreWhat was once a favorite of ours is slowly getting worse and worse. I didn’t want to write the review but hoped it will maybe make it better somehow…. Green beans… always over cooked the last several times we went. Or even way under cooked. Staff seems to never stay long there. Just a few weeks. Todays lunch for the wife was the half chicken. It was just brutally dry and over cooked and looked at least 3-4 days old like it been left outside in the street. We went to an open house yesterday and a dead baby bird was in the street and it honestly almost resembled what came out. It was down right gross. They did give her Turkey to replace it. But why would you ever bring it out. I should have took a picture. It looked like the National lampoon family Turkey inside but this chicken was blackish burnt brown and shriveled up all around. It was just gross…. To the point the meat was splintering off of the bones. I’ve catered and smoked meats for many years and I never knew you could do this to a chicken. Manager offered to give a discount. I said no need due to them bringing Turkey. I asked him if he seen it and he did not and didn’t go to see it like he really didn’t care. Looking back we paid full price but he should of done something Probably. Or I should of just took his offer. I miss the old place before it sold. Wichita needs good bbq and I’m sad to say I really won’t be back for a long long time. We normally would come 2-3 times a month and I’d have business lunches there also. Sadly not now. So many things have led to this. The list is longer than this rant!

Read moreWe went to this establishment for the first time on a Monday night for a birthday gathering had a group of about 25 in our party, the waitress gave us good service up until the end when she put the entire table's order on one ticket and was not asked to do this. We all had separate families at the table and never were asked how we wanted our tickets rang out. She then told us they don't separate tickets for large parties and how their computers are slow and how we can all divide it from one ticket. We asked her to ask her manager come out because what restaurant does not have the capabilities of separating tickets in this century? She finally said she would be able to separate our tickets and we never saw the manager come out for another 25 minutes or so, the establishment was not busy at all. The waitress became very rude and irritated with us because we wanted our tickets separated. The manager finally came out and stood behind their register and did not address us at the table, she was very rude herself. One of the people in our party got there a little late and all of her food did not come out and her sweet pot. fries came out burnt told the waitress about her food, she then told her the kitchen was closed because it was 9:00 and there wasn't any food left, she never got the food that she took her order for which was about 8:45 pm but did not inform her of the kitchen closing at 9:00 and that she may not get all of her food. I will never EVER be dining at this place EVER AGAIN and would not recommend it...
