Well- worth one's time! This gem of a local museum dedicated to the history of the Wichita and its environs in Sedgwick County is well worth the effort to explore. The volunteer staff is friendly, intelligent, and helpful, the museum store is ideal with many small gifts to select from, and the parking is easy on a weekend (I went on a Sunday afternoon when the downtown area was largely uninhabited.) As another reviewer commented, the museum is definitely geared toward adults, and I concur. However, children might be engaged for an hour or so exploring the classically restored building and viewing items from previous generations. The building has been magnificently restored to its original stately bearing, which in and of itself makes a visit worth one's time and effort. Don't forget to leave a donation if you can as this non-profit museum is well worth preserving for future generations.

I wanted to visit this place just because of the building! The museum is housed in the old city and it looks like a castle! The museum doesn’t have tons of hands on displays, but there is still enough hands on that my 7 year old gave it five stars. All three kids loved the old type writer set up so they could use it. There was videos here and there throughout the museum and so much information! The very rare (1 of 8 left) Jones Six automobile was my favorite. There was information about the city over the years, old toys, exquisite silver plated items, old furniture, aviation, and more. We spent three hours and barely saw everything, but were getting too hungry to keep learning. The lady working in the gift shop was super friendly and helped us with other places to see in the area. The only bummer was that they didn’t have a souvenir magnet of the museum in the shop (that’s our thing).

The museum was nice and nalstolgic and had fun things to to they had a old time pay phone that works if you dial any number but its a dime to use it and they also had a type writer that worked and you could try it you could also send the letter to someone. The museum was in an era it had all the history of Wichita and its airport factories. To me, my favorite part was the 1920s and the Victorian era. I would recommend coming here.

What a hidden gem in the heart of Wichita! The Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum is not only breathtaking from the outside its architecture feels like stepping into a fairy tale but it's also full of rich, fascinating history inside.

Each floor reveals a different era, with authentic displays that beautifully tell the story of Wichita and Sedgwick County. The building itself is part of the experience elegant, grand, and incredibly well preserved.

For just $5, it's one of the best ways to spend a few hours if you love history, beautiful old buildings, or simply want to better understand the roots of this area. Truly a...
