Airlie Gardens in Wilmington, North Carolina, is like stepping into a fairytale land. The gardens are super well-kept, with all sorts of beautiful plants and trees. You've got these amazing azaleas and these old, majestic oak trees that just make you stop and stare. Now, the big star of the show is the Airlie Oak. It's this massive tree that's been around forever, and it feels like it's got stories to tell. As you wander around, there are different themed gardens to check out, like the Butterfly House where you can watch these delicate butterflies doing their thing.They've also got these cool old buildings like the Airlie House and the Bottle Chapel, adding a bit of history and charm to the place. My trip there was so relaxing, and the whole vibe just makes you feel good. Definitely a must-visit if you're in Wilmington and want some nature magic in your life!

Tickets available as early as October...and they sell out quickly... Christmas Lights at this time of year.... It was magical, beautiful, awh striking...well thought out of the light settings, yummy hot coco, popcorn and wine tasting available, and also a general store to grab a holiday ornament or memory... they pre-sale the tickets for a car load , pricing at $30.00... Carry an umbrella, thick coat and gloves as you walk thru the entire park... Always check the weather before taking this fun adventure... Butterfly Garden and natural settings all around to take in... Have that camera ready as the kids enjoy their walk in the Garden of Lights!!! Have Fun FUN FuN!!! The place is beautiful but within My kids walking around for 5 minutes. I noticed their feet were bright blue .. No one disclosed that they spray pesticide and weed killer that has a bright blue artificial dye in it. My kids have a very sensitive allergy to artificial colors. Wasn't posted anywhere. When I brought it to their attention they just said "oh I'm sorry " And that my kids shouldn't have had their shoes off. I have 3-year-old twins and a 2-year-old. Typically when we go to an outdoor space and they're running in a field they take shoes off. There was zero accountability. Not to mention anybody wearing a light color or light shoes would also have their belonging stain. I've tried to wash my children's feet four times since being home. it has made very little difference

The Airlie Gardens are a quiet and peaceful area to spend some time. The Gardens date back to the 1700's and a few of the trees on the property are massive with the Airlie Oak dating back to the mid 1500's. Stunning trees. We visited in late September and a few of the azaleas were in bloom adding a bit of color to a few garden areas. The summer annuals are bright and beautiful and scattered throughout the gardens. The property has some walkways created with concrete forms with vines climbing up the columns and across the top. A few statutes can be found on the property along with the Mystery Grave, nature trails, etc. Overall, a great way to spend time in Wilmington NC. Highly recommend.

Airlie Gardens is beautiful! It is very clean, very well maintained and the most peaceful place we've visited in a while. Right now there is a owl scavenger hunt that made it really enjoyable for the kids. You will not regret visiting. My kids also really enjoyed the butterfly garden! Key takeaways: 1. Closes at 5pm so don't wait until too late in the day to visit. Last admission is at 4:30 pm 2. Adult tickets are $9 kids are $3 (unless you are a member). 3. Ticket price is worth it. 4. Grab a map have fun with the scavenger hunt! 5. All tickets must be purchased online in advance. 6. There is only 1 restroom onsite and it is at the ticket building. 7. Be prepared to walk.
