Capt'n Bill's Backyard Grill & Volleyball Facility — Attraction in Wilmington

If your a local or a tourist I highly recommend this place! John (Bills son) was the nicest guy. We were visiting from New Jersey and just so happen to find this place. I wish we found it sooner. John new that we never have been here before and he brought us fried pickles. We have never had them before and they were delicious! Next thing we know hes brining us fried banana peppers. Being from NJ we had never heard of such a thing. They were also delicious! After eating those here comes John again with koosies and a bottle of their famous BBQ sauce that his father made. He told us about his father passing away a little while ago but he kept the tradition going. We are so glad we did. For anyone looking for a place to eat stop here!! You wont regret it! They also have volleyball to play and plenty more! Awesome place for a quick bite or night out! Thank you John and staff for all the goodies and a great dinner with my family! We celebrated an upcoming wedding with a shower for the bride and groom at Capt'n Bill's in their banquet hall. It is a challenge to come up with the words that can express how great the entire experience was!! Wow....the event was staffed with the perfect amount of workers. When we arrived to decorate, the staff eagerly helped us. We found that they covered so many details with us prior to the event that we had a feeling of great calm and excitement knowing that our event would go off without a hitch.

I would also like to brag about the food. We did the hamburgers and hot dogs option and so many at the party went back for seconds. The green beans were incredible and I can honestly say that the baked beans were not like any baked beans I have ever had and they were flavored perfectly.

Service was pretty poor. We sat on the patio for over 25 minutes without anyone acknowledging us, eventually having to go to the bar to place our order. The server was not busy. We saw her chatting with others and clearly ignoring us. The bartender was sympathetic and took our order, then brought our drinks about 5 minutes later, likely because the server had no idea where they were supposed to go.

There seemed to be some confusion with the food. Only half of it came out at first, but the bartender confirmed the rest was coming. After another 25 minutes with no update, we asked about it and were told the kitchen had the rest of the order but it had not come out yet. We asked to take it to go since the service, aside from the bartender, had been terrible.
