Let's start with this was one of the best hibachi meals I've had in quite some time.
Found this location through the Find Me Gluten Free app looking for safe food while in the area. They had amazing reviews there so I was excited to check it out myself.
We ordered not long before closing after being at a family reunion all day. I was hangry (yes hungry and angry) as I needed food immediately. They took my order over the phone, assured me it was from their gluten-free menu and would be ready in 15 minutes. Hubby ran in to pick it up, realized there was no shrimp sauce so he ran back in and they handed him two.
Got back to the place we were staying and opened the box to find my shrimp and steak was chicken and steak. Kicked myself for not opening the box at the restaurant as it was about to close. Called them to make sure I wasn't given the wrong meal and it was just a misunderstanding on the meats ordered. They were willing to remake it but getting back that night was not possible for me and we were leaving in the am so they refunded me which was truly above and beyond.
The miso soup was amazing and the first I've had in years. The fried rice was delicious and they make it plain so I didn't have to pick through it. Had them add egg which was cooked perfectly. The meats were juicy and tasted phenomenal. I mean seriously this meal was the best I've had in so long. I couldn't even save any for leftovers, it was impossible to stop eating. I can't wait to go back and try the...
Read moreThe food is always good but the service sucked tonight. It took forever to get our menu and for someone to take our order. After we got our food, I requested chili oil which was never brought. No one checked on us the duration of our meal and we ended up having no water half way through. We were sitting in the back corner so it was hard to get someone's attention. The waitress brought our bill and I was not happy with it. I ordered the pad see ewe with tofu and shrimp. I literally always order this everytime I come here. On the menu, the pad see ewe is $14.99 for chicken/tofu. I know there is an additional charge for the shrimp. However, the waitress charged me $2.00 for the tofu and $2.00 for the shrimp. That makes no sense when my boyfriend got the thai basil stir fry for $14.99 but got house protein, which is chicken, beef, and pork, for additional $3.00. So how did I end up paying more than my boyfriend when I only got 2 proteins. There shouldn't have been additional charge for the tofu when that is included in the base price. She tried explaining it to me but made no sense to me. Also, I have never been charged here for making my food gluten free so if there is going to be upcharge it needs to be stated...
Read moreFirst timer in North Carolina or perhaps in the mood for some Asian culture in your daily routine? Look no further for this place has all kinds of Asian influenced artifacts and foods. Once you enter, you are greeted with great service and seated almost immediately. Don't let popularity fool you for this place has it all.
Now I will say the food is not up to par with most other places and can be quite upsetting for most connoisseurs. However, the servers do make it a priority that you get the most out of your buck and find ways to make it as economical as possible. I was also disappointed that no birthday song was song for my friend upon request due to a bit of shyness.
But that's ok for more good can be taken than bad. Green tea, Dragon Crisps, different spices...Memorable. Not to mention how readily ready the servers were in pouring our drinks and ensuring we are aware of the specials and deals going about. I'd love to give it 5 stars, but as mentioned quality of the food needs improving and perhaps a birthday song just incase. Otherwise, I'd recommend this place for those first timers who never been to an actual Asian restaurant, or just passing by...
