I love haunted history tours! Here’s the scoop:
Bring water: It’s hot and humid, but not miserable.
Meet up location: It’s easy to find and where the stories start.
Parking: Find parking along the streets. You don’t have to pay to park by the meters after 6:30 pm.
Guides: The tour guides were brothers in law. They are very nice, personable, and did a great job of making sure the group stayed together.
Haunted stops: All locations are in downtown Wilmington and you make stops just outside the haunted locations. Some locations had a few benches nearby for those who may need a moment to rest while listening to the stories.
Navigating: There are hills and bumps in the roads as well as very busy streets, so watch your step! If have trouble walking or knee issues, this may not be for you. Wheelchair users may experience a lot bumps in the road, but the paths we took were wide enough for navigation with ease.
Hearing the stories: It was difficult to hear most stories due to traffic on the streets-even with the aid of a microphone and speaker.
Restrooms: In our tour there was a short window of time to use the restroom along the riverwalk. The trade off was missing a few minutes of the story of Gallus Meg (or Mag) while quickly using the restroom.
Group involvement: The youngest people on the tour got to hold the lanterns to guide us and to assist in the story telling by swinging lanterns during one story. I loved that they were included.
Favorite Stop: The Latimer house. We could hear the story well and were along the outside gates of the house. It has a beautiful yard and eerie vibes while touching the gate in the dark.
Overall: I recommend going once. If there were different stories each night I would consider...
Read moreThe family LOVED it. It was a first for our two adult sons, the youngest was particularly excited to go. Generally, we don’t merit attention but when I said, “I bought tickets to a ghost tour! Want to go?” “Well, yeh!” It’s clear I made a connection! My partner and I went on a ghost walk in downtown Wilmington and were pleased, so we knew that this one would be good too. Phil is a great storyteller! I think I and at least one of my family members saw the Lady at the Latimer House peeking out the window. I kept a second sighting at the St. James graveyard to myself; but I saw some little something flit across the cemetery. I had a little spill on the beach the day before and didn’t want my family thinking the sightings were actually me losing my mind when I fell. 😉🙃 Either way, it was a fun family adventure. Thank you Phil for helping me out on the Latimer sighting. I see other Wilmington Ghost Tours...
Read morePhil, our guide, made the tour very interesting. He was a lot of fun and added humor to the tour. we rented an EMS machine which was entertaining. it would have been nice to know what the range was. we didn’t think pointing toward the houses was very effective but we did get readings when we were in the cemetery which was exciting. The meeting place seemed a little far from where most of the houses were situated. We did the extended tour which was well worth the extra $7. It was a most enjoyable tour and a great way to burn some calories after eating a huge dinner. fyi. not sure how the tipping policy goes as we tipped via the text message received from you which is unclear if it goes to our guide or not so we...
