We attended the annual Trail of Lights for the 3rd time this year. We found it magical & beautiful during our first visit, a little less dazzling the second as there seemed to be less landscape lighting, and completely overcrowded with light displays this last time. Instead of looking at its beauty and capturing beautiful pictures of the landscape and some individual attractions, it has become too crowded with too many sponsors of small exhibits for photo opportunities. A great night for families with small children to capture many fun pictures, but not so much of an attraction for adults wanting to enjoy a festive holiday night out taking in the lights. Sad to see the changes and last year will be our final...
Read moreAnyone who loves Christmas should visit the Emilyann Theatre's walk through trail outside of the theatre. It's located in Wimberley, TX. I, along with another car, thought this was supposed to be a drive or walk through trail according to what I saw on a site online. The other car saw they couldn't drive through though and left. We decided we would walk a little of it. The volunteers were very friendly. They do take donations and offer free hot chocolate and marshmallows for roasting. Lots to see as the town's shops puts this together for others' enjoyment. Be aware that the parking is in gravel, the trails have hills and uneven ground. It may not be for those in wheelchairs...

While not as large and well-funded as some trails, such as the one at Zilker, this set-up is great and is such a large part of many locals' Christmas tradition here in Wimberley, including ours. You will find -- along with the new light dispalys added annually -- hot cocoa for sale; marshmallows on skewers to toast over the campfire that is burning beside the stage, which usually features a local musician; free books for the kids, a lawnmower-train ride...
