Colagrossi Wines — Attraction in Windsor

We were there a couple of weeks back, our second visit.

THE WINE: Really, really good. The focus is on Italian varietals and blends, and I didn't taste anything I wouldn't have bought a bottle of (and, in fact, did actually join the club).

THE STAFF: Friendly, informed, efficient. But, really, the star of the show is Craig Colagrossi, the owner. He is the most cheerful, helpful, kind sort of guy you could meet. We mentioned the winery at other locations in the Windsor area and beyond, and in every case they were, "Oh, Craig helped me when I was getting started, he's such a cool guy." Not that you should buy wine because the winemaker's a nifty person, but it certainly makes the experience a lot more fun.

THE PLACE: Sorry, this isn't a "rolling fields and sunny verandas" sort of place -- more of a "here's the sales/tasting room, here's the warehouse, business park" sort of place. And that's okay! Everything was comfortable and friendly, there are plenty of other places nearby if you want to park and walk. It's all cool.

Super fantastic wines and such a great time. When you taste here you generally sit with the winemaker himself who is maybe the nicest person you’ll ever meet. Sometimes you’re in a seated environment and other times you’re amidst all the action of barrels and harvest going on. You’ll always get to see what’s going on behind the scenes and a fun fact about Colagrossi, is Craig will often pull out Barrel Tasting samples to try. He makes everything from white to red and even a Sparkling Wine coming soon 😁 my personal favorite is the Barbera and his Cabernet. It’s so refreshing to find different varietals than what you would typically find in Sonoma County. Craig, the winemaker and owner is just the nicest guy in the whole world and he makes you feel like part of the family. Not to mention the pizzas are some of the best I’ve ever had.
