To be totally honest with you it was the worst experience I have ever had in my lifetime and I am 62 years old. I ran into this woman who told me my grill which was the smallest drill that could be purchased and the flame was too high and too close to where everyone else was, the flame on the grill was no higher than 6 in high because it was charcoal and she had replied that it was at least 4 feet high which is impossible. I have never heard of such ridiculous rules in my entire life and like I said I'm 62 years old and have never had a bad experience like this ever in my life. I just went to the beach to relax and enjoy the quiet and also the scenery and it turned out to be a complete chaos. Read moreThis beach is free for local residents, who need to have either a current dump sticker (which can be purchased at town hall or the dump for $5 pet vehicle) or a beach pass (free, but limited to 3 per household iirc). Most of the year there is no gate attendant so non locals are able to use the facilities. After memorial day enforcement of the pass requirement starts & runs through the busy season (but only on busy days in my limited experience). Small boats can be pushed on carts or carried to the right side of the beach for launching and recovery. There are a fair number of picnic tables & at least one permanent charcoal grill. Read moreAlbee Beach is really lovely. Just a heads up to everyone that it is now for Residents only for the parking. You need a card in your window and the staff will not let you in to park without one. You can still hike in from town and use the beach if you can find parking elsewhere. I am hoping this change is not permanent and if it is that they offer passes for purchase for non residents.
