My wife and I have been trying out some smaller, non-chain hotels and motels around New Hampshire. I found one and thought we would give it a try. It reminds me of many motels that used to be common across the US, but this one has been recently renovated, perhaps newer ownership. I did notice one very bad review, but it does not look like what we experienced. We had a wonderful visit.
The woman at the front desk was very welcoming. She had just texted me with instructions to get into our room, but since I was driving didn't see it untill I checked in. Lobby has lots of seating, a game room with pool table, fooseball, and a video game (switch, I think she said), there is also a little reading book, invited to take a book if you find one you like. Scattered around the lobby were also scrabble, tic tack toe. If we wanted to give a campfire, they had a gas one we were welcome to use, just had to get instructions and sign a waiver. They also had cold brew coffee and tea, some fresh fruit and granola bars, along with oatmeal for breakfast. It was not a "full breakfast," but nice to grab a little something before heading out for the day.
Room locks were neat, yes it is small thing, but it is a keyless electronic lock. You enter a code to unlock, so don't have to worry about where you put a key card, or keeping it too close to your phone and having it demagnitize.
Room was sufficient. Ours had two double beds, but we could snuggle together. It was a tiny (5 foot x 7 foot) bathroom, cute little retro blue bathtub. It is definitely a "one person at a time" facility. Room appears to have a new wooden/ laminate floor, no carpet for those of us with allergies. Heat, AC and a ceiling fan for climate control. TV was an "insignia" web TV, so had a few free channels, but be sure to bring your YouTube, Amazon or Netflix password if you want to watch much. Room was very clean, had microwave, mini-fridge and coffee maker.
Room had a backdoor, which led out to a large grassy area, with a pool in the center. Just walking down the road next to the hotel brings you down to the town beach, 5 minute walk. This also crosses the rail trai, so great bike riding if you like that.
This is a pet friendly hotel, they even had a water bowl by the back door and a broom to sweep out if your dog tracks in mud. And the back door would be very handy for those late night potty trips (and no carpet in the rooms in case of accident). We didn't have a dog, but very friendly for pet owners.
The only negative, which is kind of picky is the noise level got a bit loud. They have a few chickens, and what sounded like a rooster at sunrise. That set off the dog next door, between those 2 I woke up, and then a loud car went by on the road. The blinds on the back door didn't block out much light, so was up a bit earlier than I would have chosen, but not a big deal. Certainly been in louder hotels, but those did get it 4 stars on the room. Although not a huge negative, it was a 4 star room, double beds rather than queens, step in shower. It is a nicely renovated motel, great for a night or a...
Read moreMy wife and I were looking to explore the Wolfeboro area for the first time and needed a place to stay that would allow our dog and had space to park a boat trailer. I was very happy when I came across The Lake Wentworth Inn which checked all of our boxes, however we still had know idea what we were getting into and were a little guarded.
We arrived at a beautiful Inn, in a beautiful area. At check in I was lucky enough to meet Terri and her pup. Her kindness and warm welcoming was all that was needed for us to drop our guard. Although we arrived late, Terri stayed extra long to explain the area to us including restaurants, boat ramps and good times. She did it all with a smile on her face like her day was just starting, really made us feel welcome.
When we walked into our room, we were blown away by how nice and clean it was. The owners have done a complete remodel and did not cut any corners or spare any details. Everything was brand new, Faucets, laminate flooring throughout, light fixtures, shaker style cabinets and trim. No dust or grime to be found anywhere, it truly was like a showroom. I tip my hat to the owner's remodeling effort, it was amazing.
During our stay over Memorial day weekend, we had the time of our lives. We believe we have found the “hidden gem” we have been looking for. So much so that we booked this weekend as well and we have already booked our 10 day summer vacation and couldn't be more excited.
Thank you to the new owners for providing such a wonderful and clean place for my family to stay and enjoy. And a huge thank you to Terri for being so welcoming, kind and...
Read moreOur stay at Lake Wentworth Inn was AMAZING!! My pup and I had just driven across the country from San Diego and we desperately needed a place to decompress for a few days. We hit the JACKPOT with this place! The room was immaculate, the property was stunning and very large (they even have a big chicken coop called Lake Henworth Inn, haha!), the staff was unbelievably kind and helpful, the pool was refreshing, and it was so peaceful and perfect! Plus, if you forgot anything, or you just like to shop around, there are multiple places right down the road! From grocery stores, to gift shops, yummy restaurants, to Dunkin Donuts, gas stations, etc. There are amazing hiking trails scattered throughout the area and if you stay at the Inn for more than a couple days, you get a beach pass to Lake Wentworth, which is just a short walk from your room! I could go on and on (which I already did, whoops!), but I just cannot recommend Lake Wentworth...
