The Woodbury Flea Market — Attraction in Woodbury

Nice manageable size flea market with a good variety of old & newer... Everyone was super friendly except for one crotchety old man vendor. I had just purchased my 10-yr old son an old rusty cap gun from the neighboring vendor, then approached the old guy's table. Bought a vintage pair of shoe trees from him, overpriced at $10 but they were in good shape, so I bought them anyway. After the sale, the old guy scowled at me, nodded towards my son, and loudly & sternly told me "you need to go put that gun in your car, you're making people nervous," indicating the vintage toy in my son's hands. Everyone within earshot turned to look. I looked at my son, then back at the old man and, confused, said "you know that's an old toy, right?" He said "well it doesn't look like a toy, and you're making people nervous." I replied "I'm not going back to my car all the way on the far side of the restaurant, in this humid heat, just to put away a toy gun that, for some reason, makes you nervous. We just bought it at your neighbor's booth, so my son hasn't even had it long enough to make anyone nervous, you should just speak for yourself." Being that we're visiting from western NY, I didn't know that CT is an open carry state, but I wish I'd known that when replying to him, bc that fact makes his rude comments even more nonsensical. The whole experience was really off-putting, and kinda soured the whole flea mkt visit for us. So steer clear of the cranky old man whose table is in the middle of the row closest...

I'm sure this is a happening place when there is good weather but when I showed up there were only a handful of vendors. And it wasn't anything I was interested in. And yes, I reviewed the correct place. I was there Sept 9th. It was overcast, cool, and damp. 12-18 vendors, maybe. That's a handful. Sorry, I just wasn't impressed. Tons of antique shops around that were 50/50 open/closed. Maybe if I'm back that way, there might be...

I am a regular vendor at Elephant's Trunk and decided to give Woodbury a run this past weekend (8/9/25). To say we were disappointed is an understatement. It is extremely small and not that much foot traffic. We made back the money for our space....that's about it. Otherwise it was a complete waste of our time setting everything up.
