Lower if I could. The mall was wonderful. The AMC theater was wonderful. I drive a semi truck. I parked my truck only in the parking lot by the movie theater, when I went in to go shopping and to the movies last night. When I got out of the movies it was so late, that I just went to bed in my truck. Nowhere on that parking lot does it state no overnight parking or no semi trucks. this is about the 10th time since January that I have stayed overnight at the mall after the attending the movies. This morning I get woke up to a heavy set African American woman pounding on my door taking pictures of my truck, my service dog, and of me not completely dressed. She stood in front of my truck with sun shining in pictures right into the Sleeper Berth of my truck. When I jumped out to find out why she's taking pictures, she starts yelling at me that I have a vicious dog. I tell her she has no right to take pictures of me or my dog. She tells me she's calling the cops for my vicious dog. She tells me that I'm to let my dog out of the truck and see what she'll do to him. She continues to threaten my dog in me and has yet in the first 5 to 6 minutes of contact told me I could not park my truck there overnight. When I let her know that he's a service dog and she better quit threatening him she tells me that the cops are going to make me move my truck or have it towed. I tell her when my logbook allows me to move I will move but until then no. She continues to threaten my dog and drive off. when I call in to the Main Mall to the security office to speak to a supervisor, she answers the phone as the after-hours person. She refuses to give her name but lies and says she's the supervisor. I move my truck to a Bank of America parking lot. I finished getting dressed, but before I can even take my service dog for his morning walk, two police officers if the security car drive up. A man gets out of the security car dressed in plain clothes acting as the supervisor. He starts running his mouth being rude interrupting the officer and myself. I asked him several times to let me speak, the cop told him to go sit in the car until I was done. I told the cop what happened.
Since it isn't posted anywhere"No trucks or no overnight parking", the cop said I was fine and let me go.
The woman was very pissed off and so was her supervisor. Sometimes you just have to stand up for your rights. Protector animals. Remember just because they're a rent-a-cop doesn't mean they have any Authority. I was following the law she wasn't.
Yes I will return to Chicago Ridge Mall and Shop. Yes I will return to the AMC theater in watch more movies, when I'm in Chicago area. And I will do it all with my service dog in my truck in my truck parked in a parking spot in the mall...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was in the area from Ohio last week with my daughter and the mall was our last stop before heading home. Unfortunately, we didn't get to shop much because I made the careless mistake of leaving my phone in the restroom. I noticed it was missing within 2 minutes of walking out, but when it went back, it was already gone.
That's where the excellence of the mall staff comes in. I went straight to the mall office (in the same hall as the restrooms) and asked if anyone had turned it in. No one had, but they radioed housekeeping and security to see if anyone had seen it, allowed me to use their office phone to call it to see if anyone answered, and took my daughter's phone number so they could call her if it was found.
Then I went to the Verizon store in the mall to see if they could help locate it or deactivate it for me or recommend another course of action. The Verizon staff was also super helpful. Just before deactivating my phone, he called the security office again for me and the phone had been found.
As I was leaving Verizon to go back to the office, I was flagged down by the mall manager and a security guard, coming from different directions, both looking for me to let me know it was found.
The manager took me back to the office, where I met the sweetest housekeeping lady ever, who had recovered my phone from the restroom. She must have been on the ball and super-serious about her duties, because I hadn't even made it out of the bathroom hallway before she was taking care of business. I don't often hug strangers, but I hugged her.
So while I can't speak to many of the features of the mall, the staff there went so far out of their way to help me, when it was totally my dumb mistake and they had no obligation to help fix it. And while phones can be replaced, it was my daughter's birthday trip, and they kept it from ending on a bad note, and I'm sincerely thankful.
I don't recommend vacation disasters, but if you have to have one, this mall is the place to do it. Thank you to General Manager Steven Yee for going...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe parking lot is cumbersome, very awkward for maneuvering around. Im surprised there aren't more accidents. The mall itself has the usual mall stores and a few one of a kind boutiques. I hope that they can replace the former anchor store - Carson's. It leave a giant empty space that needs to be filled. The food court has a surprisingly nice variety of eatery options - middle Eastern, Italian style, Asian, hotdogs, burgers, salads, ice cream. Convenient movie theatre/food court connection.
If you choose to eat at one of the free standing restaurants, I recommend Miller's for its fun and spacious atmosphere and great pub grub. I would feel bad if anyone who is reading this chooses to go to Chili's. We were disappointed the last time we went there but we decided to give it a try today because we were shopping next door at the always fragrant and lovely Pier One store.
Chili's is a consistent restaurant - consistently poor quality food. The "meat" filled, rubbery tortillas had more beans than meat. This was served with rice and potatoes. Why would rice and potatoes ever be together on a plate? The corn and bean salad had a watery 1000 island dressing instead of citrus as listed on the menu. The quesadillas were so over grilled that they were hard and inedible.
If you want to eat at one of the free standing restaurants, I strongly suggest skipping Chili's and going to Chik Fil A's, which is just a few yards away. The staff is super friendly, the chicken is so tasty and really juicy and flavorful. All the sides are nicely prepared and delish! Eat in or take out.
Chicago Ridge a really a nice little mall with a variety of stores and has cozy places to sit and rest and enjoy mall snacks and beverages. There's also a...
