Edith Bolling Wilson Birthplace Museum — Attraction in Wytheville

This is a must see stop! This is a charming, fascinating and highly informative little museum tucked on Main Street in downtown Wytheville. Farron Smith, the curator (who along with her husband created and run the site and the hotel across the street) was gracious and gave us a private and amazing tour of the museum. The building, the birthplace and home to Edith Bolling Wilson, the second wife of Woodrow Wilson, has on display furniture, family memorabilia and photos. It also has a small but wonderful gift shop dedicated to the late First Lady who visited the building in 1960. We really enjoyed our visit to this small museum that honors this US First Lady who grew up in this very building (upstairs with an abundance of family.) The opening video was very well done, and our guide was very knowledgeable and kind. They have more they want to do, but what they have done so far is enlightening! This is a very neat little museum that tells the story of a first lady of the United States. It's completely free (donations welcome but unnecessary) and the tour guide was very helpful and welcoming. You only need about an hour so it's definitely something you can add to your schedule...
