My husband and I just stayed at this Hotel this past weekend. We have lots of experience staying in Hotels across the country. We chose Bolling Wilson because we prefer to support local historical places like this. I can honestly say it takes a lot for me to rate something 5 stars. It has to be near perfect for me to. On arrival, to be sure we would be happy with our choice, we called in advance and requested to see the room. They were not at all annoyed with this. In fact, we were welcomed by Lindsey who was very kind and professional. She respected our time crunch with the decision. We stayed in the Junior suite. It exceeded my expectations. Everything in this Hotel has been rennovated and updated. For example, the Kholer hot tub has the latest jet technology. The soap and shower gels appear to be handmade from local vendors. The bed felt like we were sleeping on a cloud. The staff was incredibly attentive and kind. The suite came with everything a normal junior suite comes with. They provide one breakfast basket each morning. Each additional basket is $5. It includes a gourmet muffin, yoplait yogurt, a bannana and orange juice. The hotel resteraunt "Graze on the Main" was amazing. The food quality was definitely 5 star. We enjoyed the blue crab, oysters and surf n turf. You can tell the bartender thinks outside the box. My husband and I do not drink alcohol on a regular basis but enjoy a sangria on celebration. We ordered both of their specialty sangria's. I have honestly never had a sangria taste that good before. We were greeted by Patty with a cheerful disposition. She went out of her way to assist my husband I take photos. Jenny was our server and was absolutely wonderful! Very professional and knowledgable of everything on the menu and the history of the hotel. Most importantly everyone showed great compassion and concern to make certain we were cared for as well as the others visiting. We visited The Perch on the roof top and it really was amazing to see all of Wytheville, the beautiful mountains at sunset and sunrise all while seated in very comfortable outdoor seating around 3 fire pits. This place offers so much for the money, a hometown feel with exotic luxuries you can't find anywhere else and if you're looking to experience something different for a change, you will not be disappointed! Totally worth the money. These are hard working people running a historical local hotel better than some of the Hilton's...
Read moreIf you've always wanted to stay in a vintage pre-WWll hotel that is part of a historical ambience, this is your place. It is in an idllic small town setting with touristy surrounds that are neat as a pin. Those of a certain age will quickly recognize the floors, windows, hallways, and furnishings of a vanished hotel genre. In a nod to modernity, there is a fridge , WiFi, and, upgraded electronic plug-ins. The hotel is well-sited for visiting local attractions. The staff is courteous and helpful. There is an overnight ritual of placing a garden-type basket outside the door to receive one home-baked muffin and one fruit or yogurt for your breakfast. There is no breakfast source on site. The bed are comfortable and well appointed. The Keurig coffee is delicious. Minuses are: uncovered check-in , and lengthy walk to lot in rear of hotel. Since this lot is shared by the restaurant and hotel events, it may be full, as it was for me, necessitating on-street parking. The one elevator is small and cannot accommodate peak check-in and check-out times conveniently. The room hallways are narrow and dark, the entry door massive and heavily sprung. There is no ice in the fridge and the only machine is in the gift shop. There is no microwave, limited lavatory counter space and floor space for open luggage. In short, the interior plan represents all the defienciencies that modern hotels have corrected. But that's what you came for. One deficiency is quite glaring. The A/C unit is wall-mounted over the bed. It is a sophisticated design with inadequate instructions avaiable. The person sleeping closest to the unit is bathed by fan driven air continuosly when the unit is running on cool or heat. I awoke with an ear ache and turned the unit off, preferring...
