Worst Experience of My Life – Avoid Graze on Main at All Costs (food poisoning)
I decided to take my wife and son out for a nice dinner, hoping for a high-end experience at Graze on Main. I called ahead a few hours before to confirm reservations and specifically inquired about their shrimp and grits plate, a dish I had been looking forward to. They assured me everything would be ready and available. Little did I know, I was setting myself up for one of the most miserable experiences of my life.
The evening started with overpriced plates (over $24 each!) and subpar service for what’s marketed as an “upper-class” establishment. The shrimp and grits were unimpressive at first glance and even more so upon tasting. However, I could never have predicted what would come next.
Shortly after eating, I experienced the worst pain imaginable in my stomach. The food poisoning I suffered from their shrimp and grits was so severe that I felt like I was on the brink of death. I spent the next four days completely incapacitated, battling fever, nausea, dehydration, and everything else that comes with a horrific bout of food poisoning. It’s beyond unacceptable for a restaurant claiming to be upscale to serve food that nearly kills its customers.
The cost of the meal, combined with the medical ordeal, is an insult. For $24+ per plate, you’d expect fresh ingredients and professional standards, but Graze on Main apparently doesn’t care about the health of their patrons. My family and I will never set foot in this place again, and I strongly urge anyone considering it to think twice—your health isn’t worth the risk.
Avoid at all costs. They call it “Graze,” but you’d be safer grazing in a...
Read moreThis restaurant was recommended to us by a local winery’s staff. I was excited that it was considered a “farm-to-table” option with some healthy choices according to the person that suggested we try it. We were disappointed.
The venue is elegant. That part we enjoyed. When the waitress found us she was very nice. We ordered the filet mignon for $30 and the Korean bbq tofu dish. We ordered a graze salad without goat cheese to start. The salad was good.
When the steak and tofu made it out, the tofu was a huge chunk and the steak was tiny. I don’t know how the tofu could have been cooked through at the size it was presented. I cook tofu often and it takes work to cook through even an inch thick. The steak was sad. The weight is not advertised on the menu, so we asked about it when it was presented and we were told it was 6 oz prior to cooking. When we’ve ordered 6 oz in the past it’s more substantial even as the smaller option at most restaurants. The filet presented to us couldn’t have been above 4 oz. I provided photos..I hope they help deter others expecting more at this price. You’ll see the fingerling potatoes were huge in comparison.
We did not eat these meals. It took so long for them to come out of the kitchen that we didn’t have the energy to order replacement items and opted instead to leave without having dinner. The server was nice about it and so was the manager. I hope they can help the kitchen out so this place survives. It really is pretty and...
Read moreWe learned of Graze on Main while staying at the Bolling-Wilson Hotel. It's in the the lobby. Reservations are recommended as the placed is not very big. The restaurant has fabulous food. Their chef is excellent. Unfortunately, this night the service was slow and inattentive. Perhaps they were understaffed. However, when our meals arrived they were well-portioned, hot and full of flavor. So delicious! My wife enjoyed the Pork Roulade. Too bad it lacked much of the spinach dip which was promise to be stuffed in it. Yet, the bourbon-mustard reduction and sweet potato mash & grilled asparagus were very tasty and made up for it. As for me, I absolutely reveled in the Nashville Hot chicken sandwich. It was beyond scrumptious! The crispy fried chicken is dipped in hot sauce, served on a Kaiser roll atop crisp lettuce, thinly sliced house pickles and homemade blue cheese alioli. Tender and juicy with flavor. Add home cut fries... I was a happy man. With food as good as what's being served at the Graze in Main, it's easy to forgive a few missteps. We returned recently for Mother's Day (2 yrs later). Quality is still outstanding. We both had a fabulous Graze Salad and shared the Shrimp Polenta with mushroom & spinach placed on it. The shrimp was a tad salty. Otherwise, a...
