I have been going to Caribbean Card Club weekly over the last few months and I have nothing but amazing things to say about this place. My last review was about this club when it was under different ownership. The old version of this place (before Maverick purchased it from Tony) was a total cesspool. People were obnoxious and falling down drunk. They would ply regulars with drinks so that they emptied their debit cards. Thank goodness the new owners (Maverick)have completely changed this club for the better. It is way cleaner, they never over- serve alcohol, they look out for players, and it seems the odds of winning are much better.
This is not a nightclub or a pick up bar-quite the opposite. You will not find people interested in hooking up or chatting. This place is for people that really like to gamble and understand the rules and strategy behind the games they play. Regulars who understand this and are like-minded will really enjoy interacting and being greeted by both staff and other regulars. This is why Caribbean Card Club feels very welcoming and fun.
One of the things I love most about the card club besides the odds of winning, is the variety of games available. Half or more of the space is dedicated to serious poker players and tournaments. The other half has smaller tables with games like three card poker, Pai Gao, Texas Hold ‘Em and Spanish 21. I play Spanish and I really appreciate that suited matches are 13/1 rather than 9 or 4 to one like they are in larger local casinos, (if they even offer Spanish 21). The games are well-run and the dealers are friendly, knowledgeable and always willing to help new players or those who need advice .
In addition to the excellent games, the card club offers a range of other amenities like pull tabs and sports book. Although the food is more expensive than it use to be, the food and drinks are delicious, the club is really clean and the atmosphere is comfortable and inviting.
Overall, I would highly recommend the card club to anyone looking for a fun and engaging card playing experience. The staff and members are wonderful, the facilities are top-notch, and the games are both exciting and well-run. I look forward to many more visits to this local card club...
Read moreWould not recommend. Poker in Washington overall has been at a low for a while. I hadn't played in-state for 9 months and this was my first time playing again here.
Firstly the tables were 8-handed and when we got down to 4 they did NOT want to let us play at the other tables when 9-handed is allowed, because they wanted to keep raking a short table. Only when we were about to leave did the floor change their mind after many snide comments and looks. He was completely unprofessional the entirety of my time there.
There was also one table that had a good bit of action which I was on the move list to in which he called me up to go to. After expecting to play and preparing to head to the next table, it turned out he made an "honest" mistake, promising that I was first up on the move list (when I could have gone if they were playing 9-handed). Regardless, I went to sit back down at my table and chalked it up to a mistake, even though he was still rude.
Finally, when our table broke the floor reneged on that and said we would have to draw. I won't even get into the undertones of his attitude. Or how the dealers were not giving large pots (that i was not in, impartially) the attention and care the deserved with action still to go.
In the end, I decided to just leave and cash out because it became too much. The floor wouldn't take any accountability, continued to be rude and I just wasn't going to play at another short table even with cash on the table and another 3 buy-ins after the lying and disrespect when there are other options.
To non-locals, as a locaI I would recommend playing somewhere out of state, you'll be treated more fairly and the game selection will be better (there's only spread-limit with a 300 capped bet). This experience is more-or-less par for the course for poker in Washington. All in all you'll be left desiring more after having terrible game options and poor...
Read moreI called in to check on the Omaha list and Mike answered the phone. He told me how many were on the list and what to expect. I told him "I live thirty minutes away and wanted to put my wife on the list as well." Mike proceeds to tell me that they don't do that. That's fine and I understand that. When I told him "They've done it in the past and it was never an issue." Mike replies in a laughing voice and "says well that's cool." I was willing to come in and speak to him in person but decided against it. I turned around and went home. I called back and spoke to Alex and requested Mike's last name. He at first said "uh I don't know it." I said "okay well I'll call corporate then he gave me the information." This establishment clearly don't need players and don't know what the policy is for putting people on the list or maybe when they did put my wife up they needed us to play and support the game. This time they don't need us because the game was full. By the way when I called in they had five on the list and two more makes a second game. If it's not the policy then why do it in the first place? I can see why they're a 3.8. Sounds like the comedians are in the wrong business. Maybe the drive to Hollywood is worth it or the Red...
