Discount Furniture Store — Attraction in York

This review may be a little long but worth reading...in my quest to find the perfect sectional I searched on google and found the exact one I wanted at Ashley Furniture, because of Covid it was out of stock online. I contacted customer service and they let me know that there would be a shipment in about 2 weeks and to keep watching the website and to make the item a favorite and I would receive an in stock email. So thats what I did. Little did I realize thats what 100s of other people must have done too because as soon as I recieved the in stock notice, I went to the website to purchase but I wasnt fast enough and it was already sold out again. I contacted customer service again and asked about purchasing the sectional in store but was told that they do not honor online pricing and it would cost me much more. I then asked if I could put a down payment down to reserve one next time they came in stock and was told that they do not do that, that basically I had to play Russian roulette and hopefully get lucky and be quick enough when it came in stock again. Not wanting to wait months and months to get "lucky" I went online and googled the exact sectional I wanted and found that the Discount Furniture in York sells this sectional and for less than what Ashley Furniture sells it for online and on sale. I talked to Aaron at the store in York and he was extrememly helpful. He let me know I was able to put down a deposit and that they should be receiving a shipment with that sectional in a few weeks. To my surprise after only a little over a week waiting I was informed my sectional had arrived!!!! I was very surprised because I had figured it would be closer to 2 to 4 weeks until it came in. What Discount Furniture did was give me the sectional that they had ordered to replace their floor model they had previously sold to also help someone else get their sectional sooner so I didnt have to wait any longer! To me this was amazing because I had read horror stories about people waiting months and months for furniture due to factory shutdowns due to Covid. So long story short I guess lol -Discount Furniture is a great store with great prices and thanks to Aaron, great customer service! I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a great deal with great people...

Aaron, Kevin and all the wonderful people at Discount Furniture make the experience of ordering, purchasing and delivery a magical experience. At this point, my husband and I only purchase anything for our home here. There are many reasons why:

1. You cannot beat the price or the quality here.
2. The level of service is next to none.
3. Aaron and staff are not at all the typical sales people we have experienced at a Furniture Store. They are helpful without being intrusive.
4. The vast options and their ability to help us visualize the look and feel and making certain our dimensions will work for the piece show how much they care about their customers.
5. They are very attentive and have personalized every request that we have ever made making us feel like family. (We feel the same way!)
6. We have purchased a Bedroom Ensemble for my son, a Living Room Ensemble, a Sectional for our Basement, a Dinette for our Living Room and Aaron has already helped us on the path to our next purchases of an updated Bed for our room and a Bunk Bed for the Kiddos.
7. They clearly care about the happiness of their customers. All the associates at Discount are attentive, thorough, and consistently check in before delivery, making sure the time works for delivery, and go above and beyond checking in after delivery to ensure we are thrilled with everything.

I only right reviews if world class service is delivered and Discount Furniture has earned my business time and time again.

Beware of the added fees:

Extremely argumentative on the phone—showed no effort to understand our frustration. My mother, whose first language isn’t English, experienced a significant miscommunication with the store clerk, and when we tried to clarify, the representative completely shut us down without acknowledging or apologizing for the extra costs we had to cover. I didn’t take that lightly.

When I hinted that I’d rather return the furniture than keep incurring extra charges, she informed me that all sales were final—something that was never communicated to us in the store. When I challenged this, she pointed to the receipt. The receipt?! All we wanted was for them to understand where we were coming from, but there was zero effort. Their pricing practices feel downright predatory, with hidden fees adding up quickly.

Key points to know before buying:

There’s an additional $25 charge per floor, on top of the $150+ delivery and setup fee. If your box spring is too large, there’s an extra $90 charge for a split box spring. All sales are final. No returns on furniture (except for factory warranty on mattresses).

Be aware: once you pay, refunds are off the table.

In comparison, I also purchased a set from IKEA and paid less for delivery and setup. The “discount” here is almost nonexistent—you end up paying it back with all the extra charges they add.
