The playground is newish - updated a year ago or so. Two regular swings, one disabled-access swing, plenty of grassy hills to run around on, and a jungle gym with a few slides for littles and a taller section with larger slides as well as funky ladder sections to climb up. (No turtle, though!)
I noticed a few problems. It's a great park for my 4-year-old to kill a few minutes, but he gets bored quickly. And there are a lot of open spaces on the jungle gym for smaller kids to fall from, so there's no such thing as unassisted play for little ones.
There's also an opening in the fence at the top of the highest hill, which means there is direct access from the park to the intersection of Avenue E and 7th Street. I'm sure they opening has a legitimate purpose beyond keeping parents on their toes, but I haven't discovered it.
Finally, the bathrooms have been relocated, presumably to service the fields north of the park as well. This means that a bathroom emergency with a child demands either a hike along a long, meandering paved path or a straight-shot sprint, uphill, across different terrains with kid(s) in tow. The bathroom entrances are facing away from the play area, too, so there's no line-of-sight to any older kids left on the playground, and if kids go to the bathroom solo, you won't be able so see them enter or exit the restrooms from the play area.
The skate park seems fine; I never skated, so I can't judge its offerings, but I've seen 2 or 3 people using it on my visits to the park. There is a dog park, too, though I've never seen it utilized. The basketball courts are relatively well-kept and busy on weeknights, so older kids who can operate without oversight can keep busy. But as a local boy who used to roll down the hills of this park and hoped to watch his children do the same, I must sadly report that 7th Street Park is not what...
Read moreIf you are mobility challenged this is not the easiest park to move around, as it is a hill. They do have a sidewalk that goes throughout, but it you are sticking to just the sidewalks there isn't much to do. The "skatepark" is tiny, but does have a ramp.... the Dog Park is not as secure as I would like and is pretty much just a patch of grass with a bench. The playground is currently under a remodel, so most of the equipment is not currently there and they have dirt laid out. The pool is at the top of the park and has its own parking area and is not yet open for the season. The basketball courts are the main draw, there are 6 hoops, I think, and plenty of parking. The little theatre is cute but I have yet to see one of their performances. The bathrooms near the basketball courts have been removed and I believe the only bathrooms are at the top of the hill...
