Thereโs clearly some sort of disconnect between people working here. Last year we heard of a pink fleshed Apple and read that it was something available at Parrish Pioneer Ranch, so we called and asked if the apple was available. They said yes but when we drove there we found out itโs only ripe when picked a certain time of year. This year super excited to finally get the pink fleshed Apple we called twice to ask if the pink fleshed Apple was available, and even more specifically confirming this is the time of year that theyโre actually pink. Both times we were confirmed and even promised! they are indeed currently pink fleshed.... so then we drove almost 3 hours from LA to Parrish Pioneer Ranch.... and that Apple? Not available. Not pink fleshed. We were so frustrated we dropped everything we were about to buy and left.
We then drove to another Orchard who told us much more informative information about the pink fleshed Apple and when itโs available and it completely contradicted what we were told by Parrish. We also learned at that Orchard that Parrish is owned by the owner of Slater Brothers and that many of the apples donโt even come from Oak Glen. Needless to say I will not be...
ย ย ย Read moreMake sure to stop at Parrish Ranch for less lines than the other farms listed on the scenic route map. They have fresh apple samples and delicious apple crunch. Only $4 for a big piece! Also Angus McCreedy's nearby has the BEST, homemade apple dumplings and pastries! I got a yummy apple caramel pecan pie from Mr Laws. I really enjoyed the fresh apples, and the crust was very good. You could tell it's homemade....not canned or boxed apples. They had the best pie prices too! I wish i had gotten the mini cherry pie once I tasted the crust from the apple caramel pecan pie. And the bag of Winesap apples I got from Mr Law's was really good....crisp, fresh, sweet with a little tartness. I gained 5 lbs from this trip....but I can't wait to go back...

Haven't been able to locate meat pies this side of the Pacific like we've had in Australia and New Zealand, so I was especially excited when I had a chance to be in the area and stop by and pick some up. I called ahead to make sure that they had some available. A quick 20-minute drive up the hill and we were there to grab a few. They are a little pricey, but the result was a very good ๐. I was quite impressed with the selection of apples and the variety of apples available. Certainly an excellent location to stop by and support. Service...
