Last May my husband and I visited Uzbekistan for 12 days. While we were in Tashkent we wanted a quiet location with self-catering and two sleeping areas. The latter was important especially after a 38 hour journey. I found this hotel on the web and decided on the least expensive which was the deluxe twin bedroom. We stayed there for the first 3 nights and the last 2 nights of our stay. I don’t have the exact cost per night but the tour company I contacted suggested the Uzbekistan Hotel. To stay at the Darhan the supplement for the 5 nights in Tashkent was 590 USD for a couple. The photos are not of the deluxe twin bedroom but of the room we were given for the last 2 nights.||||Pros:||1) Self-catering and there was a reasonably well stocked mini market close by.||2) Breakfast was included and served in the room. You have to choose from a limited but substantial menu the previous evening. For an additional cost there was a slightly wider menu.||3) The hotel and rooms were very quiet and away from the tourist crowds.||4) The rooms were spacious and clean.||5) The metro is easy to use and is a convenient 6 minute walk from the hotel.||6) The reception staff are eager to please and their English is quite good.||7) Wi-Fi is fast and reliable.||||Cons:||1) The A/C was pretty ineffective.||2) There was no bottle water in the room and after a very long flight this would have been appreciated. However, there is a shop near the back of the hotel.||3) There were few or no restaurants close by.||4) The hotel is regarded as one of the more expensive hotels in Tashkent.||5) For our second stay we did not have the twin bedroom (this was occupied) but were given instead a large room with an extra bed. When I complained, I was asked to see the manager in her office – not the customer service I would have expected! However, I saw her and eventually we were offered the use of the room beside ours for the night so that we had separate sleeping areas. It was a reasonable compromise.||||For a guaranteed quiet location with very clean rooms I would certainly...

Read moreI stayed at this hotel with my family and kids for three nights. At first, it seemed like a hidden gem — clean rooms, reasonable pricing, and quiet surroundings. However, I quickly realized why the hotel was so empty: the management’s behavior is a major red flag.
During checkout, the staff inspected the room aggressively and claimed there were stains on the bedsheet and towel. Without giving us any proof or room for discussion, they demanded a penalty. They even blocked the main gate to prevent us from leaving until we paid.
The person at the reception during the morning shift, Buttar, was extremely rude and unprofessional. He raised his voice, threatened to call the police and sue me in court unless I paid an amount higher than a night’s stay. He even said, “Do not come to my hotel again,” which was shocking and deeply disrespectful.
I tried contacting the manager, Taimor, but he never answered the phone. It seemed like he had no interest in his job or in resolving guest concerns. On the other hand, the night shift staff member, Samandar, was polite and respectful — the only positive interaction we had with the team.
In summary: while the hotel is clean and budget-friendly, the management’s unethical behavior, intimidation tactics, and lack of professionalism make it a place I would strongly advise others to avoid. I paid to end the ordeal and will...
