Visiting Vin Wonders rather disappointing experience for my mother and I. We arrived in the park around 9am, as we were advised in our hotel (where we purchased the tickets) that the park opened at 8.30am.
Firstly, there weren't enough printed maps, and even when you scan the qr code on the big map by the entrance you get a tiny pdf map that is very hard to read and understand. The signage inside the park is not very clear, we had to ask 3 staff members how to get to the Water Park.
Once we got to the Water Park entrance, we found out that it opened at 10.00am, so we had about 40 min to wait. Why is this not advised beforehand? The hotels that resell tickets should advise customers not to arrive so early as it seemed to be a waste of time. Luckily, they opened the gate at 9.45am as the crowd to get in was pretty big. Once we got inside, the chaos began. There weren't any instructions on how everything worked - we had to join a massive queue for towels and lockers (beware, they only accept cash as you have to pay the deposit). The towels are so small they will only be useful to wipe your face after the swim in the sea. Once you have gone through that experience, you have to run to the beach to be fast enough to hold a spot under a beach umbrella if you don't want to get melanoma after spending 6 hours in the sun. In total, there were maybe 20 umbrellas. You have to join another queue to pay for lounge seats and deposit for them again. The queue is operated by one person who asks how many lounge seats you want, then that person runs to your umbrella, checks that indeed you are not lying and not trying to score more chairs for what you have paid, and then runs back to write you a piece of paper for deposit confirmation.
Once you have gone through that, it's already 11am and it's time to go through the rides or maybe get a drink at the bar. After a few rides, I went to order a coconut juice and a coconut mocktail, however at 11.30am they have already run out of coconuts. The bar staff looked exhausted, and barely moved despite a large crowd wanting to order their drinks.
The "pinnacle" of the whole Water Park experience was when my mum and I went to go on some slower rides and a staff member straight up told my mum that she couldn't go on the rides because she was over 50 years old. I have never seen such outrageous discrimination where a 56-year-old woman gets told she can't go on rides, gets pointed to a sign while a staff member is having a giggle. Maybe your staff should get a better training at warning people of health risks instead of assuming their age? The signage is discriminatory and an archaic way to manage your Health & Safety risks. It should be changed to a warning of health risks like in the theme parks around the world. If you want to apply the policy of checking people's age, you should ask for ID and not just guess it - it can be very hurtful to people and should be discussed at your next staff training.
We decided to leave the park at 2pm as we have had enough, however we still had to spend at least 20 minutes in the same queue to return the towels to get our deposit back. There were only two showers at the beach, one of them wasn’t working and the other one was full of sand. The area with lockers had showers as well, however the space was very limited, so you couldn’t leave your bag outside, and if you took inside while having shower, all your stuff would just get wet.
There is still a lot of work that needs to be done to enhance visitors’ experience in your park. We arrived very early and still barely got our lounge seats, anyone who would have arrived after 11am had to make themselves “comfortable” on the grass or on the benches in random locations throughout the park. I think this is unacceptable when you pay 900,000 for the experience plus all the additional expenses such as the hire of towels, lounge seats inside the park etc.
Unfortunately, we won’t be recommending visiting Vin Wonders. Hopefully, you can make some...
Read moreHere's an absolute honest review of this place that I hope the actual higher ups in the Vinpire will take note of.
Vinpearl is a very poor replica of a multitude of amusement parks around the world and at no point does it exceed it's counterparts.
First I'll outline the $43 price tag for an adult as absolutely horrendous for Vietnam. Pricing out the the majority of the local Vietnamese population.
So starting at the beginning. If you get there now by your own motorbike, you're forced to park 3-400 meters away and walk around a dirty construction yard in the hot sun. There's no pavement or shade just heat and dust. Oh you pay 5000vnd for the privalidge as the ticket fee just isn't enough to cover parking for vehicles. Of course cars get a cushy one out the front showing Vin only love their richest guests. Welcome to Vietnam baby.
Then when you get in even when it's quiet you have to weave through about a km of gates to get to the cable car. You can't bypass or the staff can't be bothered to adjust the pathway because that's actual work and it ain't getting done!
Cable car is fine, a nice view but hardly in the world elite. There's better in this country.
Once off you have to march in the hot sun through high end shops nobody uses to the park gate. This is about a half km in the bakind sun with not shelter and no transport alternatives for people with kids, disabilities or elderly. Shame.
Once at the gate you enter the park where signage is clearly seen as an eyesore. Staff give you the run around with no constructive answers too. More hot sun walking.
So there are some electric buggy busses but you can't flag down, they don't start till a couple of hours after open either. No idea why, clearly the early bird is unwelcome. Then if you do want one you have to get a ticket from one of few offices. Yes readers you pay a fortune compared to the local GDP to get in and then have to pay on top to not get heat stroke trying to get around. I've never encountered that before even in Vietnam. Whatsmore there's two lines each needing their own ticket so it $5 pp to have accessibility. It is almost cheaper to book a grab bike to come over. This is mega pen y pinching and I worry for the directors if they have THAT much of a cash flow crisis without the bus fare.
For the bad attractions - the aquarium is dirty and second rate compared to others I. The region. All the language is in Vietnamese, so they were too arrogant or foolish to get help translating so foreign guests could learn about the marine life in detail. The shops are uninspiring. The castle looks like a crack den with it's grey blacked out windows too. The waterpark looked fun but by 4 half the rides are shut and there isn't much for the youngest visitors.
The other issue is lack of shade or resting areas. Everything is wide spread and in the hot sun a few benches and more trees would be welcome. They must have destroyed plenty of the local forestry to build this eyesore so putting some back would be great Kharma.
Finally on the negative, I never ever want to see someone do a spazzy two hand wave ever again. Please stop your staff doing it. It's not extra happy or friendly. In fact it looks like they are saying no. A hello, good morining, have a nice day is what Disney do. That's enough. You aren't winning with this.
What was good. The staff at the waterpark were very helpful and kind. Props to them. It's clean. The playground was good. The animals did look healthy even if some cages were a bit smaller than what animals get in the west. It was a lot better than other zoos in the region.
The restaurant we ate in was good. It's next to the one nobody likes. They were nice and the food was tasty.
So Vinpearl, two stars. I'll never go back again. You can keep rinsing the local tourists and East Asian tours. But...
Read moreFellow Malaysians! If you’re waiting for an in-depth review of VinWonders Nha Trang from another Malaysian, this is the ultimate review from your comrade. This is my time to shine!
Firstly, it’s better to stay on the island. Do not book Vinpearl Beachfront because it is not on the island! There are four resorts on the island: Vinpearl Resort, Vinpearl Resort & Spa, Vinpearl Luxury, and Marriott. I’ll give you a hint on which to choose at the end. Ko sabaq sat.
We mistakenly booked Vinpearl Beachfront because we thought it was on the island. After realising our mistake, we contacted the reservation team to change to Vinpearl Resort & Spa with some extra payment. Fine, tak kisah. The reservation email came through with instructions on how to take the VinBus.
In the email, it stated to wait outside Cam Ranh Airport at Column 8–9. We waited for 2 hours, and guess what? We contacted the VinBus Facebook page, and they said the bus will not stop at the international airport! So you peasants have to walk to the domestic airport after your international flight! They really don’t cater for international travellers who want to go to Vinpearl Island. The reservation PIC gave us false info. I don't think they liaise with each other properly.
You can take Grab to the cable car station. Upon reaching the station, they will handle your check-in before the cable car, not after.
Here’s the full story. We gave our passports and the staff nicely asked us to take a seat — around 4pm. We waited 40 minutes. Aku ni baran tau. Dah la kena tipu dengan bas.
I went to the front desk and asked why it was taking so long. They quickly checked us in and immediately brought us to the cable car! I think they purposely delay check-in unless you ask. Please, please remind the staff to check you in after 5 minutes. They’ll say they’re short on staff, but that’s not your problem. They can check you in within 3 minutes — so why did I have to sit there for 40 minutes? Useless.
Then, take the priority line for hotel guests at the cable car. Ingat ni.
After that, you can finally rest.
Now, about VinWonders: Regardless of nationality, age, or skin colour, they will cut queues for everything! Malaysians, I know we are beradab, but here, you’ll face a dilemma — nak beradab ke, nak kena pijak?!
One person will queue in front, and while you’re waiting in line, suddenly they will call their friends, father, mother, grandma, grandpa, sisters, brothers, daughters, cousins to join their line— semua muncul potong line depan kau! No matter how small or old they are, they will cut the queue.
Baran tau kat sini. Apa punya perangai.
Then, when you want to take the buggy to go back to the hotel, it looks like World War Z. People will push you aside to get on the buggy. Every resort has its own buggy, but people just jump in and push others away. The most aggressive? Ehem ehem from Vinpearl Resort. Bruhhhhhhh, it’s like the end of the world.
Even during breakfast, people tolak-tolak. What is this behaviour? Bila fikir balik — orang Malaysia ni memang beradab betul.
One day at VinWonders is enough, but be prepared to be exhausted. Still, it’s better to stay on the island. The water park was good. But when people keep cutting lines, it will ruined your mood!! The adventure park is so-so. Again, people keeps cutting line.
Do I want to come here...
