Xalet Montana — Hotel in Canillo

Nice and clean hotel to stay. Breakfast was also good, however the evening meal was rather disappointing. We really enjoyed our stay here. We were on ski Holliday's so the location was optimal, just a short walk to the main ski lift. A locker was also provided to us free of charge right at the ski lift, so we did not need to go far with ski material. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were not too big, but big enough for a ski Holliday's. The rooms were recently renovated, which makes them very attractive. The bathroom has a rainshower, which is also a very nice feature. Also there is a lot of shelf space in the bathroom, which you find nowhere else. The closet in the room is also very spacious. Only not enough space in the room for a chair or table, so only a small bench was foreseen. The spa facilities we did not use, since they charge you 10 euro a day extra for this and the pool looked really small. They also have a hot tub and a sauna. Breakfast and dinner was served in the basement, so no nice views there. In the bar and from the rooms you have a mountain view, so you can see the ski slopes. Breakfast was very nice: choices eggs, bacon, different kinds of meat etc. variety of bread, fruits and some sweets. However, the diner was rather disappointing: we did like the salad bar and the soup was delicious every evening. Went on a ski trip with friends, booking of 3 rooms. ||The reservation staff of the hotel was very responsive during the booking, answered some question that we had, and promised to make an effort to allocate us in adjacent rooms.||||We arrived and were warmly welcomed, and indeed we were located next to each other in the rooms. When we asked for a late check out for 1 of the rooms, they agreed with no problem and for free.||||The hotel is very clean and well maintended, and the daily cleaning of the room is excellent. the spa and dining ears are also very clean and welcoming.||The hotel provides free ski locker just on the main gondola, which is amazing! very comfortable not having to drag you ski gear every day.||The hotel itself is 4 min walk from the main gondola, and is just next door to a supermarket, 2 restaurants, and the main Soldeu pubs.||||Breakfast is on "the English side" - meaning eggs, ham, fruits, cereals and pastries. It will be great to have some vegetables as well, but I know this is not very common in Europe. Even before we arrived the communication with Noelia was excellent. We travelled with friends and teenagers and chose this hotel for its location. It is only a couple of minutes away from the gondola where the lockers were so you don't have to carry your ski equipment far at all. It is also very near lots of other restaurants/bars, shops and right on the main road. There was a carpark for hotel use directly opposite, though we didn’t personally use it. |The hotel itself was very clean. We stayed B&B and the continental breakfast were good value. Between the group we booked the two different rooms. The standard rooms are quite small but not too much to be a massive issue the larger rooms are a great size, but obviously cost more so it depends how much you want to spend. |Even though we were only on a short break, every room was cleaned and we had new towels daily.|We didn’t use the spa which is near the breakfast area and although quite small, it looked really clean, and we saw the cleaners in there and in the changing room on a couple of occasions when going to breakfast. |All the staff were amazing and nothing was too much trouble.
