Blanca Patagonia Hotel|Very Disappointing|The Pros - stunning view|Con’s |Advertised as 4 Star - experience was 1 star|Does not cater for guests with luggage. No lifts inside or outside the hotel and just getting your bags to reception is a hassle. Getting them to your room is worse.|You are greeted by George at the front desk, who then tells you, amongst other things that there is no restaurant. The bar area is not inviting, it looks like an after thought. |Walking into the hotel, there are broken chairs on the sundeck, and the deck itself is also damaged.|We were tired and hungry when we arrived and George suggested a take-away from a local restaurant which he stated has good food. A menu was provided, however, there were no prices! We asked for a menu with prices and George refused and we were informed that he has to negotiate a price with the restaurant. This felt unorthodox at best, but we were stuck. We ordered a steak, cooked rare and a piece of salmon, both with veg. We were told dinner would arrive 730pm. I approached George at 8pm and was told rather rudely it was only 715pm! George was wrong and just walked away. Dinner arrived eventually and it was terrible. It was over-cooked and covered in a thick oil. We still had no idea of the cost. |We decided to have a shower and go to bed and the next day we would eat away from the hotel.|The shower had a major leak and the bathroom flooded - we only just stopped the water from going on the carpet.|The room was clean but at best you would describe it as below average. The Walls were thin and you could hear neighbours chatting and showering. |Breakfast: I was Jet lagged and walking around at 4am I noticed all the breakfast items were out and uncovered! It was awful. The female staff member who was in charge of the breakfast area from 7am was on her own and worked very hard. She was very helpful and pleasant. |Can’t...
Read moreWe had a car and the hotel has plenty of parking so the slight distance from town was not a problem for us. The hotel is very lovingly cared for. The plantings are beautiful. The jacuzzi is set in its own little room with a changing room and spectacular view over the lake. We didn't try the restaurant since it was a lot of fun to go into town, but the wine we got was among the best we tried in Patagonia. Yes, sometimes there is no one at the front desk but they can be reached easily by ringing the bell. The hotel is tasteful, serene and welcoming. The breakfast was good, although we were 5 minutes late one day and everything was being taken away. You can't go wrong here. The owner is lovely and the staff are very helpful with everything although their English is not perfect. I highly recommend Blanca Patagonia for your stay in El Calafate, especially if you use Uber of have a car, although the distance to...
Read moreWe booked this hotel in advance for an express weekend trip.||And we were blown away by the views not only from the guest lounge but also from our bedroom.||The property does need some TLC, however considering that the area was badly hit by COVID I feel they’ve got leeway.||The hotel team are amazing and I don’t use that term lightly. ||Two things I felt need improvement|1, the breakfast is lacking in variety. There are lots of sweet items but savory, not so much. The cakes are great but also the feral offering was lacking IMHO.|2, there is a small bar but it’s rarely manned. This will disappoint some guests who expect that a 4 star hotel should have a manned bar.||Having the great view also means that the hotel is a short way out of town and is a good 30 minute walk (but it’s simple to get into town).||The slight negatives aside I can’t recommend this hotel enough and would...
