My Boyfriend and I tried this restaurant based on the recommendation of our hostal, and we totally enjoyed the experience.
We got there close to 7pm, and managed to snag one of the last few tables, so would recommend making a reservation next time.
The dishes here are mainly Argentinian-style stews, served in a cast iron pot. The portion size is definitely enough for 2 persons. We had the Tenderloin in Pepper Sauce, and we added a portion of ravioli to it. The tenderloins were flavourful, tender and so easy to cut into - definitely one of the better meats I have had so far in Patagonia (both Chile and Argentina sides). The ravioli, which was filled with spinach, was tasty too. And of course, we had an Argentinian Malbec to go with the meal. Even the butter that came with the bread was delicioso - there were bits of spring onions in the butter, which added a nice flavour.
At first glance, the prices might seem a bit on the high side but then when you realise that the portion and price is for 2, then it’s not bad at all, and is good value for the quality of food.
Would go back the next time we are ever...
Read moreWe were in El Calafate for one night and were very happy this was the one we decided to eat at.
The one down side was that the service was slow but that’s due to the lack of waiters. The waiters were great, there’s just a lot of people for only like three waiters. It’s worth the wait for this place!
Overall, a phenomenal meal.
Starting with this bread which I essentially ate to the face by myself (yes this whole roll) with the butter. I typically regret eating too much bread at the beginning of a meal but no regrets today. I couldn’t explain what separates this bread from most but definitely worth coming here just for the bread
The next thing we ordered was the disco lamb classic which was tender, moist, and flavorful. I don’t typically order this type of dish but seemed liked the move given that’s what everyone was ordering. Lamb seemed to be the love because I could see the steak being a little dry. The menu is well thought out and I’m sure all are great, but if you’re into lamb this is what you...
Read moreA lovely home made warm bread with spiced butter followed by a rich sweet pumpkin soup were the introduction to what was going to be a shameless "Disco Vegetariano".
What the eyes could distinguish as different vegetables and rice, tasted actually as a flat extremely bitter meal. It is shameless from the restaurant to offer a "dish" like that just to please a vegetarian audience. There is no integration of the flavors, no caramelization and no depth at all: there is no love nor care. A shame, vegetables that could otherwise be cooked beautifully extracting out of them the most amazing notes and aromas, were reduced to a harsh acidic bitter mix.
The waiters weren't surprised when this was mentioned, and one can even suspect they don't even care. Indifference that is consistent with the essence of the...
