I choose to stay here as it was recommended to me by a fellow traveler I had encountered in downtown Salta. The hotel is located about 5 minutes walk out of the immediate pleno centro area. The room itself was decent for the price, although the bathroom was in a bit of rough shape with no shower curtain, no toilet paper available, and a broken wall mounted soap holder. There is a lovely courtyard garden, that I decided to enjoy. And that is where things turned interesting that evening.||A very attractive lady was seated in the courtyard. I speak Spanish and thus said hello to her to be polite and the sat down to enjoy my book. She engaged me in light conversation, in which I told her I was American, traveling alone, and on my way to Jujuy Province in about two days. After a few minutes she excused herself. I wa feeling hungry and thus went out find somthing to eat.||Upon arriving back at the hotel, I found a folded piece of paper taped to the door of my room. Opening the note I read and learned that it had been left by the lady I met in the courtyard. Her name was Juliana and she had something to ask me and would I please knock on her door if it was after 9 pm, as she would be out of her room until then. It was 9:30 and curious as to what this was all about, I went over to knock on her door. ||After knocking, I was told it was open and to come in. Upon entering, there was Juliana, wearing intimate attire. She then told me that she was working as an "accompante" and that she was available to "spend time" with me if I was of the inclination and it was $1000 per hour. I politely declined and left the room. ||I stayed through the next day and ran into Juliana that afternoon in the courtyard along with her "friend", Brisa. Im of the mind Brisa was in the same profession as Julianna. This hotel appears to be used as an incall location for local Salta Escorts. ||Make you own decisions on if to...
Read moreI would not recommend. I used the venere.com website to book and pay before my flight from Mendoza to Salta. When I arrived, the young guy at the front desk had no information at all about the reservation. I showed him my email with confirmation number stating my credit card had been charged $72.40. That was not sufficient. He kept saying he had no confirmation and did not get paid. I am a patient person. I was tired. I did not want to repay. I waited 39 minutes while he made numerous calls to different offices. I understand he was under orders from his employer not to rent without payment. But I had proof that I paid. And when he straightened it out, ad nauseum, there was a room available. As a single woman traveling alone I am accustomed to certain minimum requirements. This hotel seemed to cater to Argentine families and seemed quiet. It had a nice, green central courtyard with rooms surrounding. The room was basic with chipped plaster walls, TV, noisy air conditioner, a roach and a spider eating the mosquitos. The only electrical outlet was in the bathroom and the plug did not permit cell phone charging since it did not make a tight enough connection. The insecure aspects were that the entry door was wood paneled with a gap between the panels on one side 1/4 " wide. Then I found a missing pane of glass in the only window. I did not feel secure and listened to the mosquitos all night. The price was outrageous. I am now at the Almeria and it costs a little more for sumptuous comfort. Go to...
