This is my first review for any place ever which should give some indication as to how worked up I am. My partner (review in Spanish to follow) and me just had dinner there (April 18th) and the one thing I can say for sure is that the owner should consider his choice of Managers.
We arrived shortly after the restaurant opened for dinnertime at 7.30. While it is admittedly early by Argentinian standards that is no excuse for the hour that followed. Between 7.40 and 8.00 (with guests in the restaurant) the floors of the entire place were cleaned using rather distinctively smelling bleach, interrupted only by deliveries of bread and other relevant food items by people walking through the main part of the Restaurant. This was followed up by regular deliveries of fresh and taking away of used table linens, again squeezing through the rather closely put tables, which by this time (8 to 8.30) were starting to truly fill up. All of this was treated as normal by the staff, no explanation or excuses were given to the guests.
This overall created an environment which pushed us close to simply leaving several times - a pity in particular given that the food was good and plentiful, and that the individual service at the table by a waitress who deserves no blame at all was very good. The icing on the cake came when we paid the bill. We asked for the manager of the night and calmly raised those points. He proceeded to barely listen, roll his eyes, and offered a token 'dis culpa' which couldn't have been more condescending and insincere if he tried.
I understand that 7.30 is not a typical Argentinian dinner time. However, if you open a restaurant at those hours clearly catering to tourists then it needs to be ready to receive guests. You cannot prepare it for the night while people are being served, particularly if you charge prices which are at the upper end of what is common in the region. Moreover, you should at the very least have a person in charge (for the night) who gives off the veneer of sincerity when it comes to how to treat customers, even if he clearly...
Read moreBeautiful Argentinian restaurant turning a vegetarian into a meat eater for one night. Ones in this country you've got to try a steak and wine dinner, and after a lot of researching we came to this place for dinner. Not disappointed!
We ordered one parillada medallon and one meat pepper steak, both with sides. The meat was soft, juicy and tasty (also according to my meat loving partner) and the portions so huge we couldn't finish even if we tried. If you are not super hungry one steak with two sides might be enough. Wine can be chosen by the glass, half litre, litre or bottle.
Prices were affordable for the premium food! Steaks around 300-400 pesos. Around 8 when we arrived the restaurant was empty, but ten when we left there was a nice...
Read moreWe were REALLY disappointed. My wife ordered the filet together with rucola and parmesan. I chose a bife de chorizo with fries. After waiting for over 45 minutes, my wife got a bowl with lettuce and provolone cheese. Being asked about it, the staff told us that they just didn't have parmesan. My fries eventually came, too, but they were semi-cold and boring. My bife was okay-ish, though I expected far better given the price tag. The filet had a thick layer of fat and tendon in it - that is precisely not a filet then. Our waiter was very friendly and understanding, though. The atmosphere of the place is really nice, as well. Only the lady at the cashier (assume it was the shift's lead?) Was REALLY unfriendly.
Too bad. I...
