Hotel Chapelco — Hotel in San Martín de los Andes

I booked a room in this hotel via booking.com, their only online booking option. After doing so I received an automated reply that in order to complete the booking I needed to pay a 30% deposit. When I contacted the hotel I was told I needed to make the deposit through an Argentina bank. I was not in the country and unable to do so, but the hotel never responded to my emails asking how I could pay the deposit. However, in the next week I received the same email 44 times. 44! After 44 emails and no communication from the hotel, I assumed I had no reservation. However, after the reservation date passed my card was charged the full amount. Suddenly they didn't need the Argentina bank to make a charge!||||In short, the hotel is incapable of electronic communication and is super unprofessional. Don't book a room unless you have made it to the hotel's front...

To be honest, this a was a last minute booking and my company didn't find anything else.||The building is old and in not so good shape.||There was only one person to take care of the guests, the bar, and the reception.||Se gave the key and the remote, nobody to take care of the luggage.||The room was miserable, three single beds, pillows one inch thick, a 14" TV in a corner, no minibar...||I noticed the lack of amenities, so I asked shampoo, the answer was: "we don't provide that, but there is a store around the corner, so can buy there".||I asked a glass of water, they gave me tap water.||Breakfast is minimal.||WiFi works only at the reception...

I stayed in this hotel for 12 days recently and had an excellent stay. The staff are what makes this hotel so good, all of them are very warm and kind people, I felt like family, a special mention to Horacio and Matias who took care of me in the mornings for breakfast before I rushed off early for tennis. It does need to be said that the rooms are due for some maintenance and the overall hotel is ready for a touch of modernization however it was very clean and the camareras did a super job. I would definitely return...
