A hidden gem in the beautiful Tweed. This little restaurant may not be on one of the popular tourist strips of the Tweed, but it is well worth taking the trip into Tweed Heads for. Thai Tanee is understated in its design, but is comfortable and so welcoming. You are met with a truely warm and friendly welcome by Kevin, who is just wonderfully lovely. The restaurant is clean, tidy and even though small, it allows space to enjoy your intimate company. The menu is extensive, with loads of choice and covers the usual Thai favourites and great chef suggestions, at a very competitive price. We were so impressed by the complex flavours that our meals were packed with. The satay stir fry was full of flavours and perfectly matched with the delicious soft, sweet coconut rice. The salt and pepper calamari on a bed of crispy noodles and topped with a wonderful Thai spice and chilli mix, was tender and a really good sized meal for the affordable price. The laksa was beyond my expectations. It was not just delicious, it was sensational. Easily the best Laksa I have ever tasted in my life. So creamy and flavour packed. We bought a Beef Massaman to takeway for our son, along with a coconut rice, and it out does any other that we have tasted before, and it is his staple so we have tasted a few. The size of all the meals was considerable and surprising for the price. Making it a great choice for those on a budget. You must try this little restaurant. It might be a hidden gem, understated in it design decoration and location, but so delicious...
Read moreThe place was very empty and quite expensive. Also, I ordered a Pad Thai and asked for no beans ( English is my second language and in the menu it said there would be beans in there which I really do not like ) and when the food came it it was full of peanuts and obviously they had put in beans for beansprouts which is not the same thing where I come from. It was not just on the side like all other pad thai I've had before but all over the food even all over the pasta. Pretty hard to take out in other words. In addition to this, the pasta was extremely yucky as it was really hard ( provably not cooked enough ) and really disgusting to eat. Thank you for ruining my...
Read more$2 for chilli ??? We had King Prawn Fried Rice and Panang Beef Curry & steamed rice. Fried rice was nice. Panang curry tasted good but much of the beef was tough also having tough gristle. We thought the steamed rice was quite overpriced at $7. Then hit with a credit card surcharge and found out at the time of payment that the requested teaspoon of chopped chilli came at a cost of an extra $2. In all the places we've eaten in Aus and abroad, never have we ever been charged extra for a few grams of chopped chilli. This really tarnished our experience and soured our thoughts of the evening overall. What charge will come next? Tap water charge? Very...
