When we arrived, there was no one at reception. A man popped his head around the corner from a room and abruptly asked if we were checking in. We said yes. It was quick, however, we did have a hiccup. I told him I selected parking as an enhancement on the website and he said no. I said yes and I have the email to prove it, he said no again and asked me how much I paid. I told him and then he mumbled ok yes. Way to make us feel welcome. Didn't even apologise.
Went to our room. The room itself is clean-ish with enough toiletries to last. Room was nice and quiet. Bed was comfortable and we had a decent night sleep too. Multiple pillows, however they were too soft for me personally as I prefer firmer ones. My partner didn't mind them. We could see dust particles in the air by the window but that did not bother us too much. What we accidentally discovered by the bedside table when looking for the light switch did startle us a bit. It was an individual packet of condom. Fortunately I found it and not our toddler. Left it where we found it. If we found it earlier in the day we would have told reception immediately but it was rather late so we left it. We took a photo and showed it to the gentleman at reception at checkout who was pleasant and apologetic (not his fault though).
We were watching a show on TV when someone else's OPPO phone tried to cast to our room TV. They successfully casted their phone to our TV as we saw their legs on their camera. Bit awkward. At first, we wondered why they'd do that. Then eventually we figured out that there were two TV's with the same number - 43, when we were trying to reconnect. One said previously connected and the other had no status. Perhaps that was the confusion that led to OPPO connecting to our room TV. You might want to rename the TVs to avoid that again.
Breakfast was nice and simple. The gentleman at the breakfast lounge was lovely despite us hitting another hiccup. I specially emailed the hotel prior to booking to confirm our toddler's bedding (bedsharing) and breakfast (included as well) arrangements to which the hotel confirmed. However, the gentleman politely told us it was not indicated on his sheet as the booking was for 2 pax. I explained once again that I have emails to prove it and we booked for 2 because our toddler shared the bed and that was what the email from the hotel stated. Initially he wanted to check with reception and tell us after the fact but we declined as we would be stuck with a bill if reception had said no. I reiterated once again that it is in writing in email and he eventually said yes. In fact, it is written in your T&C's on your website that kids under 12 eat and stay free. Regardless, we have communication from the hotel that corroborated our story too.
Too many issues for a one night stay unfortunately. At least the gentlemen at reception at checkout were pleasant so we left with a smile. Thank...
Read moreWe really enjoyed our stay at the Nesuto Curtin. It's an interesting vibe being within the University during break, and a lovely balcony. The uncovered services and concrete ceiling is a bit startling in the corridors and rooms though - but that's Curtin University for you for those that know.
One minor complaint is that it could be clearer that the tiny section in front of the hotel is where you're meant to unload during checkout, and that unless you ask, there's no sign of a trolley. We had a lot of telescopes and stuff to unload and while it was sorted in the end, knowing ahead of time would have been better.
Sadly the breakfast buffet will be no go to the travelling coeliac, but there's a nearby IGA and also an Italian restaraunt nearby that does GF pasta dishes.
Suggested advice to give re the parking: "Pull in to the small bay directly in front of the hotel, and come and check in. We'll give you a trolley to unload your stuff and then you can go park in the assigned parking or find your own as per your wishes"
Because to the uninformed all the roadmarkings suggest that something horrible will happen to you if you park there.
Thanks, we had a...
Read moreThe room and hotel are very clean and present nicely for a one night stay. However, there were far too many issues with the staff for a one night stay. I called prior to arrival to check for parking as on there website it says to contact about parking and when I asked the question, the man laughed on the other end of the phone and said “we will help you when you get here”. I was quite annoyed at this already but then when I got to Curtin, there was a massive event on where roads had been blocked off and I was not notified once about this. I called again to say that I am struggling to find parking and the man said “leave you car parked where it is and walk here”. I now have bruises from carrying my bag that far. I was very unimpressed when I walked through the door and then the man had the audacity to laugh at me again when I told him that there should have been communication about the event. The event was extremely loud and had DJs and flashing lights into our room until 9:30pm. For a one night stay, there were far too many issues; not a nice experience. Thank you to the man who checked us out,...
